31. Computational modelling in systems biology: from rewriting cell fates to detecting tumours
Sammanfattning : Computational modelling is becoming an increasingly important tool in biological research. By performing computer simulations of models, it becomes possible to test theories about a biological system against experimental data. Simulations can also be used as a replacement for experiments otherwise unattainable. LÄS MER
32. With or without context : Automatic text categorization using semantic kernels
Sammanfattning : In this thesis text categorization is investigated in four dimensions of analysis: theoretically as well as empirically, and as a manual as well as a machine-based process. In the first four chapters we look at the theoretical foundation of subject classification of text documents, with a certain focus on classification as a procedure for organizing documents in libraries. 33. Model Error Compensation in ODE and DAE Estimators : with Automotive Engine Applications
Sammanfattning : Control and diagnosis of complex systems demand accurate information of the system state to enable efficient control and to detect system malfunction. Physical sensors are expensive and some quantities are hard or even impossible to measure with physical sensors. This has made model-based estimation an attractive alternative. LÄS MER
34. How has time and space affected plant biodiversity in the Hjälmö-Lådna archipelago?
Sammanfattning : Traditionally European farmland management has declined during the last century, mainlydue to abandonment or intensification. When traditional management is replaced by newmethods many species are negatively affected and often threatened with extinction. LÄS MER
35. Applications of Magnetic Tracers in the Human Lung and Gastrointestinal Tract
Sammanfattning : The use of ferrimagnetic material as a tracer represents a noninvasive approach in physiological measurements. Concerning the lung, magnetopneumography, MPG, is a unique technique to estimate retained dust in the lung, using the magnetizable dust fraction as a tracer. First a strong constant magnetic field is briefly applied to the thorax. LÄS MER
