16. On the deformation behavior and cracking of ductile iron; effect of microstructure
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the effect of microstructural variation on the mechanical properties and deformation behavior of ductile iron. To research and determine these effects, two grades of ductile iron, (i) GJS-500-7 and (ii) high silicon GJS-500-14, were cast in a geometry containing several plates with different section thicknesses in order to produce microstructural variation. 17. Analyses and Application of Ambient Seismic Noise in Sweden : Source, Interferometry, Tomography
Sammanfattning : Ambient seismic noise from generation to its application for determination of sub-surface velocity structures is analyzed using continuous data recordings from the Swedish National Seismic Network (SNSN). The fundamental aim of the thesis is to investigate the applicability of precise velocity measurements from ambient noise data. LÄS MER
18. Fixed Point Iterations for Finite Sum Monotone Inclusions
Sammanfattning : This thesis studies two families of methods for finding zeros of finite sums of monotone operators, the first being variance-reduced stochastic gradient (VRSG) methods. This is a large family of algorithms that use random sampling to improve the convergence rate compared to more traditional approaches. LÄS MER
19. Evolution of protein and non-coding RNA genes studied with comparative genomics
Sammanfattning : The identification of protein and non-coding RNA (ncRNA) genes is one important step in the analysis of a genome. This thesis focuses on the identification and analysis of proteins and ncRNAs homologues by exploiting a variety of computational methods in order to reach conclusions as to their structure, function, evolution and regulation. 20. Evaluating thinning practices and assessment methods for improved management in coniferous production forests in southern Sweden
Sammanfattning : Most of our knowledge about wood production of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) and Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) and associated silvicultural guidelines are based on field experiments. LÄS MER
