    Sammanfattning : During the period (1976-1995) a total of 175 consecutive patients (m 88/f 87) with neuropathologically verified vascular dementia (VaD) were examined. 22 patients with pure Alzheimer's Disease (AD) were also studied. Approximately 1000 persons are cared for on different treatment levels - the treatment periods are long (median slightly more than 3 years). Outpatients with winter depression were studied regarding temperament, psychopathology, social characteristics, psychosocial functioning and the neuropeptides corticotropin - releasing hormone (CRH) and neuropeptide Y (NPY), which are known to be involved in stress-regulation.
