  1. 1. Re-defining the Problem in Technology Aided Epidemic Prevention : from contact tracing to behavioral design

    Författare :My Villius Zetterholm; Päivi Jokela; Lena-Maria Öberg; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; behavioral design; COVID-19; contact tracing apps; epidemic; mobile technologies; social distancing; nudge technologies; proximity tracking; technology acceptance; Informatik; Information Systems;

    Sammanfattning : In this work, the Covid-19 pandemic provides the context for exploring the emerging field of mobile technologies for disease prevention and tracking during epidemics and pandemics. Knowledge on how to design and utilize these types of digital preventive technologies and how to gain public acceptance is still limited. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Control and coordination of mobile multi-agent systems

    Författare :Tove Gustavi; Xiaoming Hu; Kostas J. Kyriakopoulos; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mobile robotics; tracking; obstacle avoidance; formation control; nonlinear observers; multi-agent coordination; connectivity graphs.; Optimization; systems theory; Optimeringslära; systemteori;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, various control problems originating from the field of mobile robotics are considered. In particular, the thesis deals with problems that are related to the interaction and coordination of multiple mobile units. The scientific contributions are presented in five papers that together constitute the main part of the thesis. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Social causality in motion : Visual bias and categorization of social interactions during the observation of chasing in infancy

    Författare :Martyna A. Galazka; Pär Nyström; Gustaf Gredebäck; Moritz Daum; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; social causality; motion; animacy perception; chasing goal-directed motion; heat-seeking; EEG; P400; Nc; spatial proximity; non-contact causality; functional specialization; specialized perception; evolution; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Since the seminal work of Fritz Heider and Marienne Simmel (1944) the study of animacy perception, or the perception and attribution of life from the motion of simple geometrical shapes has intrigued researchers. The intrigue for psychologists and vision scientists then and today centered on the stark disconnect between the simplicity of the visual input and the universal richness of the resulting percept. 4. 4. Properties of Volume Bragg Gratings and Nonlinear Crystals for Laser Engineering

    Författare :Staffan Tjörnhammar; Fredrik Laurell; Valdas Pasiskevicius; Takunori Taira; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; volume Bragg grating; VBG; thermal effects; nonlinear optics; KTiOPO4; quasi-phase matching; photochromic damage; grey-tracking; color centers; blue-light induced infrared absorption; BLIIRA; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on two topics: thermal limitations of volume Bragg gratings (VBGs) employed as laser-cavity mirrors and formation of color centers in KTiOPO4 and its isomorphs.To explore the mechanisms of the thermal limitations of VBGs in high power lasers, I designed and constructed a diode-pumped, solid‑state laser with a VBG as cavity mirror that had a significantly higher absorption than what is typical. 5. 5. Ribonucleotides in DNA - Application in genome-wide DNA polymerase tracking and physiological role in eukaryotes

    Författare :Katrin Kreisel; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Ribonucleotides; DNA instability; DNA polymerase eta; nuclear DNA; mitochondrial DNA;

    Sammanfattning : The genetic code in the eukaryotic cell is stored in the form of DNA, which is more resistant to hydrolysis than RNA. Replication fidelity and DNA repair mechanisms are in place to ensure genomic integrity to preserve the information encoded. LÄS MER
