36. Biogenesis of tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase isoforms 5a and 5b in cell and animal models
Sammanfattning : Tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) is an iron-containing binuclear acid metallohydrolase that belongs to the purple acid phosphatase (PAP) family. It is a glycoprotein translated as a monomeric protein but is commonly isolated from tissues as a proteolytically processed dimeric form with increased enzyme activity. LÄS MER
37. Arrayed identification of DNA signatures
Sammanfattning : In this thesis techniques are presented that aim to determine individual DNA signatures by controlled synthesis of nucleic acid multimers. Allele-specific extension reactions with an improved specificity were applied for several genomic purposes. Since DNA polymerases extend some mismatched 3’-end primers, an improved specificity is a concern. LÄS MER
38. Membrane traffic in neutrophils and neutrophil-like cells
Sammanfattning : The neutrophil constitutes the first line of defence against invading organisms and its primary function is to recognize, phagocytose and kill intruding microorganisms. In this thesis, the membrane traffic in neutrophils and neutrophil-like cells was studied. Non-opsonised S. LÄS MER
39. Characterization of some molecules in the prophenoloxidase-activating and clotting systems in the freswater crayfish Pacifastacus leniusculus
Sammanfattning : A lipopolysaccharide- and β-1,3-glucan-binding protein (LGBP) was purified from crayfish hemocytes. LGBP has binding activity to lipopolysaccharide, curdlan (insoluble β-1,3-glucans) and laminarin (soluble β-1,3-glucans), but not to peptidoglycan. LÄS MER
40. On the Biosynthesis and Processing of Cathepsin G, Leukocyte Elastase, and Azurocidin neutrophil granule members of a hematopoietic serine protease superfamily
Sammanfattning : The serine proteases cathepsin G, leukocyte elastase, proteinase 3, and the inactive protease homologue azurocidin, stored in the azurophil granules of neutrophils, belong to a hematopoietic serine protease superfamily with members in mature effector cells of bone marrow origin. Promonocytic U-937 cells were used for studying the biosynthesis of cathepsin G and leukocyte elastase by biosynthetic radiolabelling. LÄS MER
