  1. 16. Physiology of Saccharomyces cerevisiae Producing Recombinant Insulin in Continuous Culture

    Författare :Ali Kazemi Seresht; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; unfolded protein response; Keywords: heterologous protein production; prolonged chemostat; transcriptome; insulin analogue precursor; metabolic adaptation; URA3d; plasmid copy number; promoter truncation; high cell density cultivation; TPI1;

    Sammanfattning : The yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae has widely been used as a host for the production of heterologous proteins. High-level production of heterologous proteins is likely to impose a metabolic burden on the host cell and can thus affect various aspects of cellular physiology. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Functional characterization of the human adenovirus pVII protein and non-coding VA RNAI

    Författare :Raviteja Inturi; Tanel Punga; Goran Akusjarvi; Thomas Dobner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Adenovirus; VA RNA; protein VII; Ubiquitination; proteasome; anti-viral; Medical Biochemistry; Medicinsk biokemi; Mikrobiologi; Microbiology; Medical Virology; Medicinsk virologi;

    Sammanfattning : Human adenovirus (HAdV) is a common pathogen causing a broad spectrum of diseases. HAdV encodes the pVII protein, which is involved in nuclear delivery, protection and expression of viral DNA. To suppress the cellular interferon (IFN) and RNA interference (RNAi) systems, HAdVs encode non-coding virus-associated (VA) RNAs. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Alzheimer's disease : uncovering mechanisms for amyloid precursor protein processing and trafficking

    Författare :Saket Milind Nigam; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by impairment of memory and, eventually, by disturbances in cognitive abilities. Brain regions crucial for learning and memory exhibit atrophy, but the underlying mechanisms for neurodegeneration continues to be point of debate. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Temporal events in neuronal differentiation and cell death : expression and processing of the Alzheimer's amyloid precursor protein family and a protein at the nuclear pore

    Författare :Marie Beckman; Kerstin Iverfeldt; David H. Small; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurochemistry; Neurokemi; Neurochemistry and Neurotoxicology; neurokemi och neurotoxikologi;

    Sammanfattning : The present study had two major objectives: 1) to elucidate the involvement of Alzheimer’s amyloid precursor protein (APP) family in neuronal differentiation, and the effect of the Alzheimer’s disease (AD)-linked mutation APPV642I on signal transduction; 2) to investigate the fate of the nuclear pore complex protein POM121 during apoptosis and to examine the possibility of using green fluorescent protein (GFP)-labelled POM121 as a non-invasive sensor of apoptosis in living (non-fixed) cells.APP is the parent protein of the b-amyloid peptide, which is the major peptide constituent in the “senile plaques” of AD. 5. 20. Structural and evolutionary studies of a lipocalin: the alpha1-microglobulin protein and its gene

    Författare :Annika Lindqvist; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; embryology human ; ontogeny; teratology; AMBP; Development biology; protein HC; bikunin; Utvecklingsbiologi; teratologi; embryologi människa ; Genetics; cytogenetics; Genetik; cytogenetik;

    Sammanfattning : a1-microglobulin is a small glycoprotein present in plasma and in tissues surrounding the gastrointestinal and respiratory tracts. a1-microglobulin is a member of the lipocalin protein family and exhibits several of the typical traits of a lipocalin; it binds an unknown ligand which causes the brown color of the protein, it forms complexes with various different proteins and there have been indications of the presence of a receptor for a1-microglobulin on T-lymphocytes.
