  1. 11. Modeling mesoscopic unconventional superconductors

    Författare :Patric Holmvall; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; phase transitions; Andreev bound states; quasiclassical theory; mesoscopic thin-films; spontaneous symmetry breaking; time-reversal symmetry; Unconventional superconductivity; translational symmetry;

    Sammanfattning : High-temperature superconducting materials are often experimentally realized as thin films that can be patterned into devices operating in the mesoscopic regime. On this length scale, various finite-size and surface effects heavily influence the nature of the superconducting state, and can induce new ground states with spontaneously broken symmetries. 2. 12. Stability and sorption capacity of montmorillonite colloids : Investigation of size fractional differences and effects of γ-irradiation

    Författare :Karin Norrfors; Susanna Wold; Daniel Kaplan; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; montmorillonite; colloids; size effect; γ-irradiation; sorption; colloid stability; radionuclides; montmorillonit; kolloider; storlekseffekt; γ-bestrålning; sorption; kollodial stabilitet; radionuklider; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Bentonite clay is intended to form one of the barriers in most repositories of spent nuclear fuel located in granite. One important function of the bentonite barrier is to retard transport of radionuclides in the event of waste canister failure. Bentonite has a high sorption capacity of cations and its main constituent is montmorillonite. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Sustainable Urban and Regional Development and Related Ecosystem Services and Water-Climate Interactions

    Författare :Jessica Faye Page; Zahra Kalantari; Georgia Destouni; Bev Wilson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; urban planning; regional planning; sustainable cities; nature-based solutions; climate change; planning support systems; sustainable development; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Sammanfattning : To accommodate a growing global population while mitigating climate change, urban areas must grow while minimising environmental impacts. To achieve this, a city must be treated as a complex socio-ecological system in which many actors and subsystems act in unclear and unpredictable ways. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Ecosystem services of wetlands and wetlandscapes under hydro-climatic change : Impacts of water flow and inundation patterns

    Författare :Imenne Åhlén; Jerker Jarsjö; Peter Hambäck; Georgia Destouni; Andrew Frampton; Heather E. Golden; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hydrology; Ecohydrology; Wetlands; Wetlandscapes; Ecosystem services; Spatial Ecology; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Sammanfattning : Wetlands provide ecosystem services valuable for human society and are therefore often considered as nature based solution to different environmental problems. However, with centuries of wetland degradation due to anthropogenic pressures, such as agricultural expansion and forest industry, as well as pressures from climate change, there are large challenges for sustainable wetland management. 5. 15. Physical Activity and Alzheimer's Disease : Measurements, Observations and Subjective Experiences

    Författare :Ylva Cedervall; Anna Cristina Åberg; Lars Lannfelt; Lena Kilander; Per-Olof Sandman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Caregiver; continuity theory; dementia; dual-task; gait analysis; in-depth interview; mixed methods research; participant observation; physical capacity; qualitative; selfhood; walking; Physiotherapy; Sjukgymnastik fysioterapi; Geriatrics; Geriatrik;

    Sammanfattning : Gait disturbances such as slow walking speed and step-to-step variability have been reported among people with mild Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and as risk factors for functional decline, dependency, and falls. Additionally, AD-related emotional reactions and decreased initiative can lead to physical inactivity. LÄS MER
