1. Stability and sorption capacity of montmorillonite colloids : Investigation of size fractional differences and effects of γ-irradiation
Sammanfattning : Bentonite clay is intended to form one of the barriers in most repositories of spent nuclear fuel located in granite. One important function of the bentonite barrier is to retard transport of radionuclides in the event of waste canister failure. Bentonite has a high sorption capacity of cations and its main constituent is montmorillonite. LÄS MER
2. Synthesising colloidal molecules with tunable interactions from soft responsive microgel particles
Sammanfattning : Colloidal self-assembly is an attractive bottom-up approach to new superstructures and materials with new properties. However, the typical spherical shape and isotropic interaction potential limit the repertoire of ordered structures that can be obtained from synthetic colloids. LÄS MER
3. Fate of riverine iron over estuarine salinity gradients
Sammanfattning : Rivers have traditionally not been considered important sources of bioavailable iron (Fe) to the marine waters, since most Fe is lost by salinity-induced aggregation and sedimentation during estuarine mixing. However, recent studies from boreal rivers found a remarkably high Fe stability, probably due to the interaction with organic matter. LÄS MER
4. Weathering and water quality in an area with mineralized till, Liikavaara, northern Sweden
5. Transvascular exchange and organ perfusion with reference to colloid and hypertonic solutions, and to endotoxaemia
Sammanfattning : Changes in vascular permeability can immensely change plasma volume and affect the degree of oedema in the body. In diseases with an increased vascular permeability, adequate fluid therapy is of considerable importance to prevent hypovolaemia. LÄS MER
