  1. 1. On the in-plane mechanical properties of birch plywood

    Författare :Tianxiang Wang; Magnus Wålinder; Roberto Crocetti; Bo Källsner; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; Birch plywood; in-plane mechanical properties; load-to-face grain angle; failure criteria; size effect; moisture; Björkplywood; mekaniska egenskaper i planet; belastningsvinkel relativt ytfaneren; brott kriterier; storlekseffekt; fukt; Building Materials; Byggnadsmaterial;

    Sammanfattning : Birch plywood has favorable mechanical properties that could be used in new types of connections for timber structures, and thus enable a substitution of the current system with steel plates. Such new connections could result in significant advantages in terms of environmental impact and economy as well as ease of prefabrication and mountability. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Stability and sorption capacity of montmorillonite colloids : Investigation of size fractional differences and effects of γ-irradiation

    Författare :Karin Norrfors; Susanna Wold; Daniel Kaplan; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; montmorillonite; colloids; size effect; γ-irradiation; sorption; colloid stability; radionuclides; montmorillonit; kolloider; storlekseffekt; γ-bestrålning; sorption; kollodial stabilitet; radionuklider; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Bentonite clay is intended to form one of the barriers in most repositories of spent nuclear fuel located in granite. One important function of the bentonite barrier is to retard transport of radionuclides in the event of waste canister failure. Bentonite has a high sorption capacity of cations and its main constituent is montmorillonite. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Evaluating Cathode Catalysts in the Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cell

    Författare :Henrik Ekström; Göran Lindbergh; Anders Lundblad; Anthony Kucernak; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fuel cell; humidity; model electrodes; Nafion; oxygen reduction; PEMFC; platinum; polymer electrolyte; thin film evaporation; titanium oxide; bränslecell; fuktighet; modellelektroder; Nafion; PEMFC; platina; polymerelektrolyt; syrereduktion; tunnfilmsförångning; titanoxid; Electrochemistry; Elektrokemi;

    Sammanfattning : The polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) converts the chemical energy of hydrogen and oxygen (air) into usable electrical energy. At the cathode (the positive electrode), a considerable amount of platinum is generally required to catalyse the sluggish oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). LÄS MER
