  1. 11. A passage to wastewater nutrient recovery units : Microalgal-Bacterial bioreactors

    Författare :Anbarasan Anbalagan; Jesus Zambrano; Sebastian Schwede; Carl-Fredrik Lindberg; Emma Nehrenheim; Francisco Gabriel Acién Fernández; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Microalgae; Bacteria; Carbon; Nitrogen; Light; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : In recent years, the microalgal–bacterial process has been considered to be a very attractive engineering solution for wastewater treatment. However, it has not been widely studied in the context of conventional wastewater treatment design under Swedish conditions. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Removal of wastewater nitrogen in a wetland filter

    Författare :Hans Bertil Wittgren; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN;

    Sammanfattning : An artificial wetland system, designed to achieve year-round wastewater treatment concomitantly with nutrient recycling, was studied for three years. As part of a joint research project, this thesis focuses on nitrogen transformations and nitrogen removal capacity. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Nitrogen effluents from mine sites in northern Sweden : nitrogen transformations and limiting nutrient in receiving waters

    Författare :Sara Chlot; Anders Lundkvist; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Geology; Tillämpad geologi;

    Sammanfattning : Process water discharged from mine sites may contain elevated concentrations of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P), which both are nutrients for algae and aquatic plants. Thus, discharge of nutrient rich mine water can result in algal blooms, eutrophication, oxygen deficiency and changed species composition in the receiving waters. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Heavy metal removal by floating treatment wetlands: Plant selection

    Författare :Maria Schück; Maria Greger; Åsa Danielsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Phytoremediation; Rhizofiltration; Heavy metal; Chloride; Floating treatment wetland; Wetland plants; Stormwater; Plant Physiology; växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Elevated levels of heavy metals and chloride are commonly found in stormwater, as a consequence of pollution from traffic, building material and industries, and the use of salt for deicing in wintertime. Floating treatment wetlands (FTWs), consisting of vegetated rafts that can be placed in stormwater ponds, may be able to reduce heavy metal and chloride concentrations, but until this date have mainly been used for nutrient removal in warm climates. 5. 15. Microalgae for Phosphorus Removal from Wastewater in a Nordic Climate

    Författare :Karin Larsdotter; Gunnel Dalhammar; Jörgen Hanaeus; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; assimilation; hydroponics; light; microalgae; nitrogen; phosphorus; plants; precipitation; wastewater treatment; Bioengineering; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : As part of a research project aiming to develop and evaluate a hydroponic system for wastewater treatment in Sweden, extended nutrient removal by microalgae was tested. The hydroponic/microalgal wastewater treatment system was built in a greenhouse in order to improve growth conditions for plants and algae. LÄS MER
