  1. 21. Dewatering aspects at the forming section of the paper machine : Rewetting and forming fabric structure

    Författare :Björn Sjöstrand; Lars Nilsson; Christophe Barbier; David McDonald; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rewetting; forming fabric; forming section; dewatering; web dryness; high vacuum suction box; vacuum dewatering; forming fabric design; numerical model; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The underlying motives of the research undertaken here are twofold: to obtain a deeper understanding of the dewatering mechanisms at the forming section of a papermaking machine and to develop numerical models that describe the flow through forming fabrics. More comprehensive knowledge of dewatering in the forming section allows suggestions to be made for improvements that reduce the amount of energy used in the process without affecting the quality of the end product. 2. 22. Vacuum Dewatering of Cellulosic Materials : New insights into transport phenomena in the papermaking process

    Författare :Björn Sjöstrand; Lars Nilsson; Christphe Barbier; Henrik Ullsten; Martin Hubbe; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Vacuum dewatering; numerical model; water removal; air penetration; papermaking; microfibrillated cellulose; dialcohol cellulose; strength additives; retention aids; drainage; water retention value; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Working towards sustainable development within the forest industry, the dewatering of pulp and paper must be fully understood along with the dewatering of other cellulose-based materials. Huge amounts of energy are used during paper manufacturing so there is a potential for making the processes more energy-efficient. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Tacit : A research journey into the methods, processes and knowledge of graphic designers

    Författare :Halldór Björn Halldórsson; Åsa Wikberg-Nilsson; Anders Warell; Johanna Lewengard; Sofie Beier; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Design; Design;

    Sammanfattning : By exploring the potential effects of digitisation on graphic design methods, this thesis aims to highlight some of the tacit knowledge possessed by graphic designers and to show that this knowledge can both be externalised and made communicable. Beginning with an interview study where professional designers’ views were gathered and analysed, the work continued through a participatory study where designers’ knowledge was highlighted in a documented design project. 4. 24. A Changing Arctic Climate : Science and Policy in the Arctic Climate Impact Assessment

    Författare :Annika E. Nilsson; Björn-Ola Linnér; Sofie Storbjörk; Oran R. Young; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Arctic; climate; framing; knowledge production; regime; institution; actor network; co-production; indigenous knowledge; Arktis; klimat; kunskapsproduktion; regim; institution; aktörsnätverk; traditionell kunskap; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN;

    Sammanfattning : Climate change has often been framed as a global issue but slow progress in the global climate negotiations and an increasing need to plan for local adaptation have made it increasingly salient to also discuss the potential of other arenas for climate policy and knowledge production. This dissertation analyzes the interplay between science and policy at the international regional level based on a study of an assessment of the impacts of climate change in the Arctic. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Gotländska stenåldersstudier : Människor och djur, platser och landskap

    Författare :Helena Andersson; Anders Carlsson; Björn Nilsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Gotland; Stone Age; Middle Neolithic; Early Neolithic; Mesolithic; Pitted Ware culture; Battle Axe culture; Funnel Beaker culture; landscape; places; material culture; animals; mortuary practices; burials; rituals; identity; practice; arkeologi; Archaeology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals mainly with the Middle Neolithic period (ca. 3200-2300 BC) on the island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea. The aim is to deepen the understanding of how the islanders related to their surroundings, to the landscape, to places, to objects, to animals and to humans, both living and dead. LÄS MER
