36. Narratives of energy incumbents - Unravelling perspectives on municipal electric utilities
Sammanfattning : The dominant narrative in sustainability transitions studies frames electric utilities as incumbents and “villains” who hinder the diffusion of niche innovations (Johnstone et al., 2017; Turnheim and Sovacool, 2020). LÄS MER
37. Effect of climate and land use on niche utilization and distribution of nettle-feeding butterflies
Sammanfattning : Anthropogenic changes in climate and land use are causing a dramatic erosion of biodiversity. To understand this erosion, and predict future transformations of biodiversity, we need to understand better species’ response to these changes at different spatial and temporal scales. LÄS MER
38. New Tides in Shipping : Studying incumbent firms in maritime energy transitions
Sammanfattning : Shipping is a cornerstone of global transportation responsible for moving large volumes of traded goods. At the same time, negative environmental impacts of shipping operations have attracted growing concerns. LÄS MER
39. Alternative Stable States in Size-Structured Communities : Patterns, Processes, and Mechanisms
Sammanfattning : Alternative stable states have been, based on theoretical findings, predicted to be common in ecological systems. Empirical data from a number of laboratory and natural studies strongly suggest that alternative stable states also occur in real populations, communities and ecosystems. LÄS MER
40. Causes and consequences of quantitative trait variation for reproductive performance in hole nesting birds
Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the causes and consequences of environmental variability and individual morphological differences on breeding success and survival in three hole nesting birds. An analysis of directional and stabilising natural selection in Collared Flycatchers (Ficedula albicollis) suggested that forces of selection acting on quantitative traits are weak and cannot explain the observed sexual size dimorphism (SSD) in this species.
