  1. 1. Imaging and Quantification of Brain Serotonergic Activity using PET

    Författare :Pinelopi Lundquist; Margareta Hammarlund-Udenaes; Per Hartvig; Gunnar Blomquist; Paul Cumming; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Pharmacokinetics Pharmacotherapy; Brain serotonin; Neurotransmitter release; Neurotransmitter synthesis; Positron emission tomography; Tracer validation; Tracer modelling; Farmakokinetik Farmakoterapi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the potential of using positron emission tomography (PET) to study the biosynthesis and release of serotonin (5HT) at the brain serotonergic neuron. As PET requires probe compounds with specific attributes to enable imaging and quantification of biological processes, emphasis was placed on the evaluation of these attributes. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Physiological aspects of cochlear excitation and neurotransmitter release

    Författare :Wanje Jäger; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Cochlea; cochlear microphonics; summating potential; vibratory response; tetracaine; aspartate; glutarnate; neurotransmitter; noise; hearing loss;

    Sammanfattning : Using an in vitro model of the guinea pig, the temporal bone preparation, cochlear physiology was studied. By perfusion of the scala tympani with oxygenated culture medium, the responses of the hearing organ to sound stimuli were maintained over several hours and the functional state was followed by monitoring the electrophysiological parameters cochlear microphonics (CM) and summating potential (SP). 3. 3. The Actin Filament System : Its Involvement in Cell Migration and Neurotransmitter Release

    Författare :Anna-Karin Johnsson; Roger Karlsson; Stéphane Gasman; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Actin; Profilin; Synaptotagmin; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; Cell Biology; cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The microfilament system consists of actin filaments as the major component and is regulated by a number of actin binding proteins. It is juxtaposed to the plasma membrane where it forms a dense cortical weave from where it pervades into the cell interior. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Organic Bioelectronics for Neurotransmitter Release at the Speed of Life

    Författare :Theresia Arbring Sjöström; Magnus Berggren; Daniel Simon; Klas Tybrandt; Marco Rolandi; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : The signaling dynamics in neuronal networks includes processes ranging from lifelong neuromodulation to direct synaptic neurotransmission. In chemical synapses, the time delay it takes to pass a signal from one neuron to the next lasts for less than a millisecond. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Investigation on Pre- and Postsynaptic Ca2+ Signaling in Neuronal Model Systems

    Författare :Jelena Krjukova; Åkerman Karl; Kukkonen Jyrki; Rydqvist Bo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Physiology; calcium; neurotransmitter release; nicotine; depolarization; G-protein coupled receptor; muscarinic; phospholipase C; m-3M3FBS; Fysiologi; Physiology; Fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Communication between neuronal and non-neuronal is called volume transmission when the released neurotransmitter (NT) acts via diffusion and affects several target cells. Both the neurosecretory and postsynaptic cell responses are linked to [Ca2+]i elevations. LÄS MER
