  1. 1. Mammalian brain acetylcholinesterase : a study of its solubilization, purification, molecular state and interactions with cholinergic ligands including an endogenous modulator

    Författare :Bertil Niklasson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Affinity chromatography; caudate nucleus; acetylcholinesterase; tetracaine; décaméthonium; d-tubocurarine; edrophonium; fluoride ion; hysteric properties; endogenous ligands to AChE;

    Sammanfattning : Membrane bound AChE from calf brain caudate nucleus was solubilized by use of ion-free media in presence of 10~ M EDTA and 10“5M tetracaine. The irreversible release of AChE was more effectively inhibited by divalent ions compared to monovalent ions added to the medium. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Physiological aspects of cochlear excitation and neurotransmitter release

    Författare :Wanje Jäger; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Cochlea; cochlear microphonics; summating potential; vibratory response; tetracaine; aspartate; glutarnate; neurotransmitter; noise; hearing loss;

    Sammanfattning : Using an in vitro model of the guinea pig, the temporal bone preparation, cochlear physiology was studied. By perfusion of the scala tympani with oxygenated culture medium, the responses of the hearing organ to sound stimuli were maintained over several hours and the functional state was followed by monitoring the electrophysiological parameters cochlear microphonics (CM) and summating potential (SP). 3. 3. Transducer properties of a mechanoreceptor : an electrophysiological and pharmacological study of the crayfish stretch receptor

    Författare :Jiahui Lin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :stretch receptor; Na channels; K channels; local anesthetics; calmodulin antagonist; patch clamp; voltage clamp;

    Sammanfattning : The abdominal stretch receptor organ of the crayfish, an analog to the human muscle spindle, contains one slowly adapting (SA) and one rapidly adapting (RA) receptor neuron. The general aims of this project were to elucidate, in the SA and RA neurons, the participation of voltagegated Na+ and K+ channels in overall transducer process and adaptation, and to study possible blocking agents specific to mechanosensitive (MS) channels.
