21. Phase Phenomena in Polymer Networks : Empirical Studies on the Influence of Hydrophobicity, Charge Density and Crosslinks on Macroion-Induced Phase Transitions in Polyelectrolyte Gels
Sammanfattning : The thesis concerns polyelectrolyte gels in contact with oppositely charged proteins and surfactant micelles, and includes of four papers (I-IV). In paper I confocal Raman spectroscopy was introduced as a method to trace micelles and investigate the structure of gel-surfactant complexes, in phase separated gel spheres. LÄS MER
22. Calibration of Urban Network Capacities
Sammanfattning : Capacity of a road in an urban network is defined as the maximum number of vehicles which could pass this road in a unit time. Since travel delays occur when the travel demand exceeds the capacity, performance of congestion estimation strongly depends on capacity values. LÄS MER
23. Towards Predictable and Reliable Wireless Communication in Harsh Environments
Sammanfattning : Wireless communication in industrial, scientific and medical applications have several benefits. The main benefits when using wireless technologies include ease-of-deployment, the simplicity to introduce new units into the network and mobility. LÄS MER
24. Mircostructure and rheological properties of concentrated tomato suspensions during processing
Sammanfattning : Food processing comprises operations such as dilution (changing the concentration), homogenisation (changing the particle size), and subsequent pumping (shearing), among others. It is thus of great interest to gain a better understanding of the mechanisms governing the creation and disruption of structures during these engineering operations, and the way in which they are related to the textural and rheological properties of the material. 25. Performance monitoring in communication networks
Sammanfattning : Performance monitoring in communication networks, which isthe main topic of this thesis, is an essential part ofperformance and network management. The applications cover anumber of different areas such as daily operations andmaintenance, usage information for billing purposes, customerreports, traffic control, planning, and dimensioning. LÄS MER
