21. The mutational landscape and microenvironment in myelodysplastic syndromes with deletion of chromosome 5q
Sammanfattning : Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) with deletion of chromosome 5q (del(5q) are malignant bone marrow disorders characterized by macrocytic anemia, chronic transfusion dependency and an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia. A high proportion of patients with lower-risk del(5q) myelodysplastic syndromes will respond to lenalidomide treatment, but more than 40% of patients have progressed to acute leukemia five years after starting treatment. 22. Herpes simplex virus infection: epidemiological aspects and analysis of the type-specific antibody response
Sammanfattning : Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) and type 2 (HSV-2) are ubiquitous viruses, often leading to asymptomatic infections in humans. However, different clinical presentations can be seen including recurrent oral or genital lesions, meningitis and neonatal herpes. LÄS MER
23. Directed Evolution of Glutathione Transferases with Altered Substrate Selectivity Profiles : A Laboratory Evolution Study Shedding Light on the Multidimensional Nature of Epistasis
Sammanfattning : Directed evolution is generally regarded as a useful approach in protein engineering. By subjecting members of a mutant library to the power of Darwinian evolution, desired protein properties are obtained. Numerous reports have appeared in the literature showing the success of tailoring proteins for various applications by this method. LÄS MER
24. Structural and biochemical analysis of two copper proteins - plastocyanin from spinach and nitrite reductase from Rhodobacter sphaeroides 2.4.3
Sammanfattning : Plastocyanin from spinach and nitrite reductase from Rhodobacter sphaeroides 2.4.3 are two copper-containing proteins that are involved in biological electron transport chains: plastocyanin operates in photosynthesis and nitrite reductase takes part in the denitrification pathway. 25. Pancreatic Cancer. Experimental and Clinical Studies
Sammanfattning : Background: Pancreatic cancer is one of the most lethal of known cancers and the only treatment with possibility of cure is surgery. The costs associated with treatment of pancreatic cancer are reputably high, both in terms of morbidity and financially. LÄS MER
