  1. 11. Blood pressure, blood pressure development and potential risk factors for hypertension with special reference to metabolic factors and kidney function

    Författare :Karl Kristjansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :hypertension; blood pressure; women; epidemiology; weight change; metabolic factors; insulin; glucose tolerance; albuminuria; proteinuria; risk factors.;

    Sammanfattning : Objectives: The overall aim of this thesis was to search for predictors of blood pressure development with special reference to anthropometric, metabolic and renal function variables.Study populations and methods: Two large long-term prospective population studies, The Population Study of Women in Gothenburg, Sweden carried out since 1968-69, with 1462 women between 38 and 60 years old at baseline and 24 year follow-up, and The Reykjavik Study, Iceland, which started in 1967 with an initial participation of 8285 men and 9183 women in various age groups. 2. 12. Metabolic regulation of nitrogenase in Rhodospirillum rubrum : studies on DRAG and DRAT, the regulatory proteins of dinitrogenase reductase

    Författare :Agneta Norén; Gary Robert; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Nitrogen fixation is catalyzed by nitrogenase, in an ATP-dependent reaction where dinitrogen is reduced to ammonium. Nitrogenase is a protein complex consisting of two proteins; dinitrogenase and dinitrogenase reductase and the reaction is only carried out by prokaryotes. LÄS MER

  3. 13. In silico analysis of microbial communities through constraint-based metabolic modelling

    Författare :Parizad Babaei; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fermented food production; metagenomics; genome-scale metabolic model; community modelling; malnourishment; Microbial community; systems biology; lactic acid bacteria; gut microbiota; uniform randomised sampling;

    Sammanfattning : Microbial communities are involved in many vital biological processes from elemental cycles to sustaining human health. The bacterial assemblages are remarkably under-studied as they are reluctant to grow in the laboratory conditions. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Health in middle-aged women, with emphasis on features of the metabolic syndrome and related markers for diabetes. Women´s Health in the Lund Area Study

    Författare :Jonas Lidfeldt; Allmänmedicin och samhällsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; epidemiology; Folkhälsa; epidemiologi; Public health; psychosocial.; socio-demographic; metabolic syndrome; Middle-aged women; diabetes;

    Sammanfattning : The aims were to study the biological, socio-demographic and psychosocial health profile in a geographically defined population of middle-aged women, with focus on features of the metabolic syndrome and diabetes, and to study the efficiency of a screening method for high-risk individuals and the outcome of baseline lifestyle advices on the diabetes incidence. All women aged 50-59 years (n=10766) were invited to a screening procedure including questionnaires and laboratory assessments. LÄS MER

  5. 15. On the metabolic consequenses of abdominal compartment syndrome

    Författare :Per Skoog; Lars Norgren; Kjell Jansson; Erik Solligård; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; intra-abdominal hypertension; intra-abdominal metabolism microdialysis; laserdoppler flowmetry; lactate; pyruvate; glycerol; lactate pyruvate ratio; ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm; Kirurgi; Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH) and the progression to abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) are known complications of vascular and abdominal surgery, trauma, sepsis, and burns. ACS is associated with high mortality. LÄS MER
