21. The discovery of antiviral compounds targeting adenovirus and herpes simplex virus : assessment of synthetic compounds and natural products
Sammanfattning : There is a need for new antiviral drugs. Especially for the treatment of adenovirus infections, since no approved anti-adenoviral drugs are available. Adenovirus infections in healthy persons are most often associated with respiratory disease, diarrhea and infections of the eye. These infections can be severe, but are most often self-limiting. 22. Regulation of Adenoviral Gene Expression by the L4-33K and L4-22K Proteins
Sammanfattning : The splicing pattern during an adenovirus infection is shifted at the late phase towards using weaker splice sites, splicing out larger introns. Splicing of weak 3´ splice sites usually requires recognition of the 3´AG dinucleotide before the first catalytic step of splicing. LÄS MER
23. Cellular and Viral Factors that Control Human Papillomavirus Type 16 Late Gene Expression
Sammanfattning : Human papillomavirus type 16 (HPV-16) is the major cause of cervical cancer. We speculate that inhibition of HPV-16 late gene expression is a prerequisite for establishment of persistence and progression to cervical cancer. LÄS MER
24. Molecular characterization of the interplay between DNA-PK and TRF2 in telomere protection
Sammanfattning : The genetic material of mammalian cells is organized as linear chromosomes inside their nucleus. In order to preserve genomic stability, mammalian cells have developed several mechanisms to detect and repair DNA lesions that can occasionally occur in the genome. LÄS MER
25. The glycobiology of human adenovirus infections : implications for tropism and treatment
Sammanfattning : Human adenoviruses (HAdVs) are common human pathogens, causing gastrointestinal, ocular, and respiratory infections on a regular basis. Epidemic keratoconjunctivitis (EKC) is a severe ocular infection for which no approved antivirals are available. LÄS MER
