Sammanfattning : Corrosion of metallic materials is a natural process, and our study shows that even in an alkaline environment severe corrosion may occur on a carbon steel surface. While corrosion cannot be stopped it can be retarded. LÄS MER
2. Proteins of the Inter-α-inhibitor Family : Biosynthesis, Plasma Clearance and Interaction with Extracellular Matrix Components
Sammanfattning : Bikunin, a chondroitin sulfate-containing protein of 25 kDa, has protease inhibitory activity and occurs in the plasma in free and complexed form. In inter-α-inhibitor (IαI) and pre-a-inhibitor (PαI) it is covalently linked through its chondroitin sulfate (CS) chain to two or one other polypeptide of about 80 kDa – heavy chains 1 and 2 (H1, H2) and heavy chain 3 (H3) – respectively. 3. Peptide-Based Inhibitors of Hepatitis C Virus NS3 Serine Protease: Kinetic Aspects and Inhibitor Design
Sammanfattning : Hepatitis C is a serious disease that affects about 200 million people worldwide. No anti-HCV vaccine or specific anti-viral drugs are available today. Non-structural protein 3 (NS3) of HCV is a bifunctional serine protease/helicase, and the protease has become a prime target in the search for anti-HCV drugs. LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : Pre-α-inhibitor (PαI) is a plasma protein consisting of a 25 and a 75 kDa polypeptide: bikunin and heavy chain 3 (H3), respectively. Both these polypeptides are made by hepatocytes and while passing through the Golgi complex, bikunin, which carries a chondroitin sulfate chain, becomes covalently linked to the C-terminal amino acid residue of H3 via its polysaccharide. Sammanfattning : The influences of posttranslational modifications on the functions of the versatile serpin protein C inhibitor (PCI) were studied. PCI is a serine protease inhibitor that is expressed in many tissues and secreted to various fluids in human, including blood plasma, seminal plasma, and urine. LÄS MER
