21. Nanotemplated High-Temperature Materials for Catalytic Combustion
Sammanfattning : Catalytic combustion is a promising technology for heat and power applications, especially gas turbines. By using catalytic combustion ultra low emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOX), carbon monoxide (CO) and unburned hydrocarbons (UHC) can be reached simultaneously, which is very difficult with conventional combustion technologies. 22. Nanomaterials for membranes and catalysts
Sammanfattning : Nanotechnology is a relatively new research topic that attracts increasing interest from scientists and engineers all over the world, due to its novel applications. The use of nanomaterials has extended to a broad range of applications, for example chemical synthesis, microporous media synthesis and catalytic combustion, contributing to achievement of improved or promising results. 23. The Milky Way as seen through Neutron-Capture Elements
Sammanfattning : Through stars, the formation and evolution of the Galaxy goes hand-in-hand with the cosmic origin of the elements. As stars form, they carry chemical fingerprints of their birthclouds, providing us with chemical timestamps of the Galaxy. The detailed history of the Galactic disk and bulge is still to be untagled. 24. Structural Investigations of Complex Glasses by Solid-state NMR
Sammanfattning : This PhD thesis presents structural investigations of amorphous inorganic materials: oxide and oxynitride glasses and mesoporous bioactive glasses (MBGs), by solid-state Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR). Lanthanum oxide and oxynitride [La-Si-(Al)-O-(N)] glasses have a large number of potential applications due to their physical properties. LÄS MER
25. Pulmonary Injury Following Intestinal Ischemia and Reperfusion in Rats
Sammanfattning : Intestinal ischemia and reperfusion (I/R) is a potentially life-threatening condition, sometimes leading to a systemic inflammatory response and the potential development of the multiple organ dysfunction syndrome. The overall aim of the thesis was to study the effects of intestinal I/R on pulmonary function with special emphasis on removal of excess alveolar fluid, pulmonary endothelial barrier permeability, leukocyte accumulation and function, and possible therapeutic strategies to prevent the development of pulmonary injury following intestinal I/R.
