1. Structure-Reactivity Correlations for Reactions of Palladium(II) and Platinum(IV) Complexes
Sammanfattning : The kinetics and mechanism for substitution reactions on tetraaquapalladium(II) by an extended series of thioethers, a great number of carboxylic acids, and olefins have been studied by use of UV-VIS, stopped-flow, and high-pressure stopped-flow spectrophotometry and NMR spectroscopy. Second-order rate constants k and activation parameters (activation enthalpies, entropies, and volumes) for formation of monodentate 1:1 complexes have been determined. LÄS MER
2. Modeling of methyl transfer reactions in S-Adenosyl-L-Methionine dependent enzymes
Sammanfattning : A very important trend for studying biomolecules is computational chemistry. In particular, nowadays it is possible to use theoretical methods to figure out the catalytic mechanism of enzyme reactions. LÄS MER
3. Skull base meningioma : Surgical and adjuvant treatment with clinical and PET evaluation
Sammanfattning : The treatment strategy for skull base meningiomas remains a controversial issue. Because of the proximity of these tumours to critical neurovascular structures, the risk for vascular damage and new cranial neuropathies postoperatively is significant. LÄS MER
4. Biochemical and pharmacological studies of transmethylation mechanisms in the central nervous system
Sammanfattning : Transmethylation is a biochemical process that involves the transfer of a methyl group from a donor to an acceptor compound. Transmethylation reactions are involved in the biosynthesis of nucleic acids, proteins, phospholipids and catecholamines and are therefore essential for the survival of all living organisms. LÄS MER
5. Enzymatic mechanisms in biotin synthesis : vitamin B6 catalysis and phosphoryl transfer
Sammanfattning : With the large number of pathogenic bacteria that have developed antibiotic resistance it is increasingly important to find new targets for antibiotics. Our interest in the biotin biosynthesis pathway originates from this drug design perspective. All organisms require biotin, but it is only synthesised in bacteria, in plants and in some fungi. LÄS MER
