    Författare :Anders Ekelund; Neurokirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cerebral oxygen delivery.; cerebral blood flow; hypervolaemic haemodilution; isovolaemic haemodilution; transcranial cerebral oximetry; transcranial Doppler ultrasound; delayed ischaemic deficit; Aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage; cerebral arterial vasospasm; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with cerebral arterial vasospasm and ischaemia, a serious complication after aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage. Firstly is the noninvasive transcranial Doppler ultrasound and transcranial cerebral oximetry techniques evaluated in detecting cerebral arterial vasospasm in clinical practice. LÄS MER

  2. 27. Severe Head Injury. Evaluation of Acute Treatment and Rehabilitation

    Författare :Christer Eker; Neurokirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi; cerebral blood flow; neuropsychological test; assessment of motor and process skills; rehabilitation; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; intracranial pressure; Severe head injury; intensive care;

    Sammanfattning : Mortality after severe head injury can be considerably reduce with a therapy using physiological principles for brain volume regulation and preserved microcirculation, with the main purpose of restricting the rise in ICP to reasonable levels simultaneously with preservation of adequate blood supply. This study shows that the ?Lund Concept? can reduce mortality in patients with severe traumatic brain lesions from 47% to 8%. LÄS MER

  3. 28. Cervical Radiculopathy. Effects of Surgery, Physiotherapy or Cervical Collar. A prospective, randomised study

    Författare :Liselott Persson; Neurokirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; headache.; posturography; neck mobility; strength; SIP; randomised trial; cervical collar; physiotherapy; anterior cervical fusion; Cervical radiculopathy; neck pain; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The efficacy of surgery, physiotherapy or a cervical collar in the treatment of chronic cervicobrachial pain of radicular origin was evaluated in a prospective, randomised study comprising 81 patients of both sexes, 28-64 years of age, referred for possible neurosurgical treatment. After neurological and radiological examination and giving their informed consent, they were randomised to one of the three treatments. LÄS MER

  4. 29. Deep Brain Stimulation in Parkinson's disease and essential tremor Outcome and experiences from patients' and spouses' perspectives

    Författare :Anna Lena Törnqvist; Neurokirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; goal attainment; speech; social life; spouses; Neurologi; neurophysiology; Neurology; Parkinson s disease; neurofysiologi; neuropsykologi; Deep Brain Stimulation; essential tremor; neuropsychology;

    Sammanfattning : The treatment related effects and personalized goal fulfilment of Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) have been assessed in studies with different designs. The brain targets included the thalamus for medically intractable tremor in Parkinson's disease (PD) or essential tremor (ET) and the subthalamicus for reducing hypo-, bradykinesia, tremor, rigidity and dystonia in PD. Sammanfattning : Biomarkers for organ damage and/or dysfuntion are used in almost all areas of medicine. The brain has eluded this technological development for some time. Recently, the S100B protein has been shown to be a promising marker of brain damage. However, before S100S can reach clinical reality, several problems must be solved. LÄS MER
