16. Regulation of cellular plasticity and extracellular vesicle secretion in breast cancer
Sammanfattning : Epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a dynamic process controlling the transition of cells between epithelial and mesenchymal states in various physiological or pathological conditions. In cancer, EMT promotes cell dissemination and metastatic colonization, enriches tumors with stem cell populations and confers resistance to anticancer therapy. LÄS MER
17. Studies of barrier function in patients with ulcerative colitis and pouchitis
Sammanfattning : Background and aim: The cause of ulcerative colitis (UC) is largely unknown. However, there is a presumed genetic component to susceptibility and altered intestinal barrier function has been implicated in the pathophysiology of ulcerative colitis. LÄS MER
18. Characterization of artificial and biological lipid vesicles using TIRF and SPR
Sammanfattning : Synthetic lipid vesicles serve as important mimics of cells and the natural membranes that they are enclosed by. As such they are frequently used as simplified models of the highly complex cell membrane to aid in-depth physicochemical and biological characterization of this essential biological structure. 19. Parathyroid hormone-related protein (PTHrP), calcium and human osteoblast-like cells
Sammanfattning : Parathyroid hormone-related protein (PTHrP) may cause humoral hypercalcernia of malignancy (HHM) when overproduced by malignant tumors, but is also produced in lower amounts under normophysiological conditions in practically all cell types, including osteoblasts. One of the aims of the present study was to investigate interactions between PTHrP and osteoblasts, to elucidate bone-regulating functions of PTHrP. LÄS MER
20. Studies on lipid transport and extracellular vesicle production in Caenorhabditis elegans ciliated neurons
Sammanfattning : The cilium is a protrusion of cell membrane. Both the protein and lipid contents of cilia are different from those of other parts of the cell membrane. While the transport of proteins into and out of cilia has been intensively studied, much less is known about how the lipid content of ciliary membranes is regulated. LÄS MER
