21. Earthworm and arbuscular mycorrhizal communities in agricultural soils : management of key soil organisms for sustainable agriculture
Sammanfattning : Intensive agriculture is detrimental to soil biodiversity and functioning. Promoting communities of key soil organisms, such as earthworms and arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi, may help improve agricultural sustainability by replacing inputs with ecosystem services. LÄS MER
22. Conifer chemical defense : Rugulation of bark beetle colonization and pheromone emission
Sammanfattning : Terpenes and phenols are of importance in conifer defense against insects and pathogens. Knowledge about tree chemical defense is vital for developing practical methods to maintain healthy forests. LÄS MER
23. Infectious keratitis : causative microorganisms and how to detect them
Sammanfattning : First, to describe the microbial spectrum in infectious keratitis by both a culture and a targeted sequencing approach; second, to describe the clinical and genetic characteristics of Corynebacterium macginleyi; and third, to study different aspects of the corneal culture process by comparing two instruments used for sampling and two sampling and inoculation strategies. The five studies in this thesis made use of two retrospective study populations and one prospective study population. LÄS MER
