  1. 1. On specification and inference in the econometrics of public procurement

    Författare :David Sundström; Kurt Brännäs; Sofia Lundberg; Michael Visser; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; auctions; dependent variable transformation model; green public procurement; indirect inference; instrumental variable; latent variable; log-generalized gamma distribution; maximum likelihood; measurement error; non-linear least squares; objective effectiveness; orthogonal polynomial regression; prediction; simulation estimation; structural estimation; nationalekonomi; Economics; Econometrics; ekonometri;

    Sammanfattning : In Paper [I] we use data on Swedish public procurement auctions for internal regularcleaning service contracts to provide novel empirical evidence regarding green publicprocurement (GPP) and its effect on the potential suppliers’ decision to submit a bid andtheir probability of being qualified for supplier selection. We find only a weak effect onsupplier behavior which suggests that GPP does not live up to its political expectations. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Sensitivity Analysis of Untestable Assumptions in Causal Inference

    Författare :Mathias Lundin; Xavier de Luna; Maria Karlsson; Sune Karlsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Observational studies; semiparametric regression; unconfoundedness; Causal inference; Statistics; Statistik; Statistics; statistik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis contributes to the research field of causal inference, where the effect of a treatment on an outcome is of interest is concerned. Many such effects cannot be estimated through randomised experiments. For example, the effect of higher education on future income needs to be estimated using observational data. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Predicting Linguistic Structure with Incomplete and Cross-Lingual Supervision

    Författare :Oscar Täckström; Joakim Nivre; Jussi Karlgren; Ryan McDonald; Hal Daumé III; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; linguistic structure prediction; structured prediction; latent-variable model; semi-supervised learning; multilingual learning; cross-lingual learning; indirect supervision; partial supervision; ambiguous supervision; part-of-speech tagging; dependency parsing; named-entity recognition; sentiment analysis; Computational Linguistics; Datorlingvistik;

    Sammanfattning : Contemporary approaches to natural language processing are predominantly based on statistical machine learning from large amounts of text, which has been manually annotated with the linguistic structure of interest. However, such complete supervision is currently only available for the world's major languages, in a limited number of domains and for a limited range of tasks. 4. 4. Delving in the Dark : Searching for Signatures of Non-Standard Physics in Cosmological and Astrophysical Observables

    Författare :Janina J. Renk; Joakim Edsjö; Pat Scott; Felix Kahlhöfer; David F. Mota; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cosmology; gravitation; Galileon; dark energy; dark matter; cosmic superstrings; neutrino mass; parameter inference; teoretisk fysik; Theoretical Physics;

    Sammanfattning : The dark sectors of our Universe, dark matter and dark energy, together constitute about 96 % of the total energy content of the Universe. To date, we only have observational evidence for their existence. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Genetic variation and inference of demographic histories in non-model species

    Författare :Jean-Luc Tison; Dalén Love; Mats Grahn; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; molekylärgenetik; Molecular Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Both long-term environmental changes such as those driven by the glacial cycles and more recent anthropogenic impacts have had major effects on the past demography in wild organisms. Within species, these changes are reflected in the amount and distribution of neutral genetic variation. LÄS MER
