1. The Microfundations of Flexicurity : Employees’ well-being and attitudes to labour market policy in a Swedish and Nordic welfare state setting
Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the microfoundations of flexicurity, an arrangement of policies that proponents claim can deliver a ‘win-win’ situation in the labour market. These policies include lax employment protection legislation (EPL) to provide employers the flexibility to hire and fire with ease, and others supposed to provide employees with a high level of ‘employment security’ (high ability to find new quality jobs if they lose their current job) and ‘income security’ (low likelihood of suffering economically during periods of transition between jobs). Sammanfattning : The objective of the dissertation is to examine national legal issues arising with the enactment of emissions allowances, electricity certificates and other similar trading objects. Several of the issues identified in this dissertation have their origins in the same problems that arose with the enactment of the legislation regarding promissory notes in the 1910’s and the legislation concerning the digitalization/dematerialization of financial instruments in the 1980’s. However, the current aquaculture production is still low, dominated by small scale farming systems, that are struggling with a number of challenges such as lack of improved fish breeds, feeds, technical skills and low adoption rates. 4. Living in the calm and safe part of the city : The socio-spatial reproduction of upper-middle class neighbourhoods in Malmö
Sammanfattning : When residential segregation is mentioned in news coverage and when it is talked about in everyday discourse in Sweden, it is very often associated with immigration and minority groups living in the poorer areas of the city. A common assumption is that “immigrants” actively withdraw from society and that they choose to live together rather than integrating with the majority population. LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : This thesis sheds some light on the duality between time-rich and time-poor living conditions and examines in which way this duality/polarisation paves the way for new patterns of inequality. The purpose is to explore the living conditions of two groups in society: those who are established in the labour force and who experience great demands on their efficiency and educational level and those who are unwanted and who do not have a natural place in the labour market.
