11. Motion and Emotion : Functional In Vivo Analyses of the Mouse Basal Ganglia
Sammanfattning : A major challenge in the field of neuroscience is to link behavior with specific neuronal circuitries and cellular events. One way of facing this challenge is to identify unique cellular markers and thus have the ability to, through various mouse genetics tools, mimic, manipulate and control various aspects of neuronal activity to decipher their correlation to behavior. 12. Regulation of Ovarian Aromatase: Studies by Aromatase Assays in vitro and in vivo
Sammanfattning : An in vitro method was developed for measuring aromatase, based on binding of competitive aromatase inhibitor [11C]vorozole to the active site of the enzyme. [11C]Vorozole displayed high, specific binding in vitro to human placenta and human granulosa cells (GC), both fresh and frozen/thawed cells, provided correct procedures were used. LÄS MER
13. Mechanisms of Osseointegration: Experimental Studies on Early Cellular and Molecular Events in vivo
Sammanfattning : The early cellular and molecular activities determining the early tissue response and bone formation at bone/implant interface are not fully understood. The general aim of the current thesis was to develop a model for studying the early molecular and cellular activities in different bone types, and in response to different implant surface properties. 14. Mechanical Properties of Arteries : An In Vivo Parameter Identification Method
Sammanfattning : In this dissertation, a method is proposed that identifies the mechanical properties of arteries in vivo. The mechanical properties of an artery are linked to the development of cardiovascular diseases. LÄS MER
15. Up-regulation of dopamine D₂ receptors : in vitro and in vivo studies
Sammanfattning : In the central nervous system (CNS) dopaminergic and dopaminoceptive neurons have the ability to respond to variations in dopamine levels by for example adjusting their dopamine receptor levels. One of the most well known phenomena in this respect is that long-term blockade of D2 receptors with antipsychotic drugs leads to an increase in striatal D2 receptor density of experimental animals as well as of schizophrenic patients as measured in both post-mortem studies and in vivo positron emission tomography studies of brain.
