  1. 1. Fundamentals of substructure dynamics : In-situ experiments and numerical simulation

    Författare :Verity Borthwick; Sandra Piazolo; Dorte Juul Jensen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; halite; in-situ; X-ray diffraction; EBSD; annealing; substructure; modelling; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; Geology; geologi;

    Sammanfattning : Substructure dynamics incorporate all features occurring on a subgrain-scale. The substructure governs the rheology of a rock, which in turn determines how it will respond to different processes during tectonic changes. LÄS MER

  2. 2. In-situ phase studies of the Zr-H system

    Författare :Tuerdi Maimaitiyili; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Zirconium hydride; synchrotron X-ray diffraction; neutron diffraction; phase transformation; in-situ hydrogen charging; hydrogen related degradation; in situ phase transformation; hydrogen embrittlement; hydrogen charging; zirconium hydride; γ-ZrH; synchrotron X-ray diffraction; neutron diffraction; hydrogen induced degradation;

    Sammanfattning : Zirconium alloys are widely used in the nuclear industry because of their high strength, good corrosion resistance and low neutron absorption cross-section. However, zirconium has strong affinity for hydrogen, which may lead to hydrogen concentration build-up over time during a corrosion reaction when exposed to water. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Phase transformation and stability studies of the Zr-H system

    Författare :Tuerdi Maimaitiyili; Lars Hallstadius; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Zirconium hydride; synchrotron X-ray diffraction; Nuclear materials; phase transformation; in-situ hydrogen charging; hydrogen related degradation; neutron diffraction; powder diffraction; Rietveld analysis; γ-ZrH; hydrogen embrittlement; zirconium hydride; γ-ZrH; synchrotron X-ray diffraction; neutron diffraction; hydrogen charging; in situ phase transformation; hydrogen embrittlement; hydrogen induced degradation;

    Sammanfattning : Zirconium alloys are widely used in the nuclear industry because of their high strength, good corrosion resistance and low neutron absorption cross-section. Zirconium has a strong affinity for hydrogen, however, and if hydrogen concentration builds up, the material will gradually degrade. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Fundamental in-situ and ex-situ studies of energy storage related materials including different applications of voltammetry

    Författare :Ulrik Palmqvist; Patrice Millet; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ni-Cd pocket plate batteries; b-Ni OH 2; b-NiOOH; failures; goethite; surface complexation; Pb II ; Zn II ; Cu II ; Cd II ; in-situ; carbon; nanostructured; voltammetry; X-ray diffraction; electrical test; potentiometry; TEM; chlorination; oorganisk kemi; Inorganic Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is a summary and discussion of eight papers dealing with failures and structural aspects of Ni-Cd industrial pocket plate batteries, applications of voltammetry in adsorption studies on goethite (a-FeOOH) surfaces and synthesis and characterisation of nanostructured carbons. The work consists of different areas of chemistry; electrochemistry, structural chemistry and solution chemistry. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Heterogeneous deformation of multi-phase engineering materials - an in-situ neutron diffraction study

    Författare :Nitesh Raj Jaladurgam; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Eutectic high entropy alloys; in-situ neutron diffraction; Deformation mechanisms; Superalloys; Electron microscopy;

    Sammanfattning : Gas turbines are complex power generation systems used in aerospace or land-based-power stations. Materials such as Ni-base superalloys are involved in the combustion zone of these machines, which continuously experiences harsh environments with loading at high temperatures. LÄS MER
