1. 3D Electron Diffraction : Application and Development towards High-quality Structure Determination
Sammanfattning : Electron crystallography has been proven to be effective for structure determination of nano- and micron-sized crystals. In the past few years, 3D electron diffraction (3DED) techniques were used for the structure solution of various types of complex structures such as zeolites, metal-organic frameworks (MOF) and pharmaceutical compounds. 2. Studies of Inorganic Layer and Framework Structures Using Time-, Temperature- and Pressure-Resolved Powder Diffraction Techniques
Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with in-situ time-, temperature- and pressure-resolved synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction investigations of a variety of inorganic compounds with twodimensional layer structures and three-dimensional framework structures. In particular, phase stability, reaction kinetics, thermal expansion and compressibility at non-ambient conditions has been studied for 1) Phosphates with composition MIV(HPO4)2·nH2O (MIV = Ti, Zr); 2) Pyrophosphates and pyrovanadates with composition MIVX2O7 (MIV = Ti, Zr and X = P, V); 3) Molybdates with composition ZrMo2O8. 3. Phase transformation and stability studies of the Zr-H system
Sammanfattning : Zirconium alloys are widely used in the nuclear industry because of their high strength, good corrosion resistance and low neutron absorption cross-section. Zirconium has a strong affinity for hydrogen, however, and if hydrogen concentration builds up, the material will gradually degrade. LÄS MER
4. On Surface Characteristics and Microstructural Development of Soft Magnetic Composite Powder and Components
Sammanfattning : Soft Magnetic Composite (SMC) products manufactured by traditional Powder Metallurgical (PM) techniques, are strong candidate materials for electromagnetic applications. Their advantages are based on cost and energy efficient production methods, shape complexity realization and uniquely uniform and isotropic three dimensional (3D) magnetic properties. LÄS MER
5. Structure Determination and Prediction of Zeolites : A Combined Study by Electron Diffraction, Powder X-Ray Diffraction and Database Mining
Sammanfattning : Zeolites are crystalline microporous aluminosilicates with well-defined cavities or channels of molecular dimensions. They are widely used for applications such as gas adsorption, gas storage, ion exchange and catalysis. The size of the pore opening allows zeolites to be categorized into small, medium, large and extra-large pore zeolites. LÄS MER
