  1. 16. Women, diabetes and coronary heart disease

    Författare :Annika Dotevall; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :diabetes mellitus; women; myocardial infarction; risk factors; autoantibodies; oxidized LDL; triglycerides; WHR; BMI; HDL-cholesterol; ACS;

    Sammanfattning : Aims: The aim of the present study was to explore the reason why women with diabetes lose the female protection against MI, by investigating cardiovascular risk factors, markers of inflammation, early predictors for future development of diabetes and clinical manifestations in diabetes and coronary heart disease.Subjects and methods: Women with (n=29), and without diabetes (DM) (n=64), hospitalised with a smyocardial infarction ( MI) 1994-96, were compared with DM-women without MI (n=46) and healthy controls (n=125). 2. 17. Cardiovascular regulation and vascular structure in prehypertension and coronary heart disease

    Författare :Anna Myredal; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :prehypertension; coronary heart disease; repolarization; baroreflex; intima thickness; CABG; non-dippers;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to characterize vascular structure and different aspects of cardiovascular regulation in otherwise healthy subjects with slightly elevated blood pressure and compare to healthy subjects with normotension and also investigate patients with established primary or secondary hypertension and coronary heart disease. Altered cardiac repolarization and arterial baroreflex function has been associated with adverse prognosis and increased risk for ventricular arrhythmias in patients with cardiovascular diseases. Sammanfattning : Background: Congenital heart disease (CHD) includes a wide range of malformations, from simple lesions, e.g. ventricular septal defect, that resolve spontaneously, to severe lesions, e.g. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Left ventricular reconstruction in ischemic heart disease

    Författare :Ulrik Sartipy; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Left ventricular reconstruction; surgical ventricular restoration; heart failure surgery; left ventricular aneurysm; ischemic heart disease; cardiac remodeling; surgery for ventricular tachycardia;

    Sammanfattning : Objectives: [1] To review our experience with left ventricular reconstruction (LVR) regarding safety (early mortality and morbidity) and long-term survival (Study I). [2] To evaluate LVR including surgery for ventricular tachycardia in patients with preoperative spontaneous or inducible ventricular tachycardia (Study II). LÄS MER

  5. 20. The Impact of Birth Weight on Cardiovascular Risk Factors, Coronary Heart Disease and Prostate Cancer : Population-based Studies of Men Born in 1913 and Followed up Until Old Age

    Författare :Margaretha Eriksson; Kurt Svärdsudd; Lena Hulthén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; birth weight; coronary heart disease; cardiovascular disease; diabetes; blood pressure; hypertension; cholesterol; prostate cancer; cohort studies; follow-up studies; Family medicine; Allmänmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Objectives. To study whether birth weight (BW) was correlated to cardiovascular risk factors, coronary heart disease (CHD), cardiovascular disease (CVD), and prostate cancer (PCA) at adult ages, whether a possible relationship depended on mediating factors from birth time, hereditary circumstances, and adult life variables, and what importance possible associations might have for the rate of the complaint in the general population.
