  1. 21. Hemostasis in middle-aged women with coronary heart disease

    Författare :Margita Eriksson-Berg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Women; coagulation; fibrinolysis; coronary heart disease; genetics; exercise test.;

    Sammanfattning : Inflammation and hemostasis play important roles in atherosclerotic disease. Chronic low-grade inflammation contributes to plaque vulnerability and rupture, and the subsequent thrombus formation is identified as the key mechanism in the pathogenesis of the acute coronary syndromes. 2. 22. Coronary heart disease in Swedish twins : quantitative genetic studies

    Författare :Slobodan Zdravkovic; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Coronary heart disease; angina pectoris; acute myocardial infarction; twins; heritability; liability; frailty;

    Sammanfattning : To this point in time, coronary heart disease (CHD) has been a major cause of morbidity and mortality in the industrialized part of the world. During the last decades a decrease in morbidity and mortality has been observed in the developed countries. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Psychosocial factors and prognosis in coronary heart disease

    Författare :Krisztina László; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Aim: This thesis aims to contribute to the better understanding of the role of psychosocial factors in coronary heart disease (CHD) by analysing (1) the relationship of income, anger expression and work stress with prognosis after a cardiac event, (2) potential explanations for these associations and (3) whether a combined intervention consisting of a psychosocial rehabilitation and medical treatment from a cardiologist affects psychosocial risk factors and prognosis in women CHD patients. Methods: Data from the Healthier Female Heart (HFH) study, a randomized controlled trial enrolling consecutively 247 women cardiac patients aged 75 years (papers I, II, IV) and data of 676 non-fatal acute myocardial infarction (AMI) cases from the Stockholm Heart Epidemiology Program (SHEEP) (paper III) were analysed. Sammanfattning : Childhood cancer is a diverse group of rare diseases and remains a significant global concern, despite substantial improvements in survival outcomes. Yet, little is known about its etiology. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Prevalence and Prognostic Impact of Periodontal Disease and Conventional Risk Factors in Patients with Stable Coronary Heart Disease

    Författare :Ola Vedin; Claes Held; Emil Hagström; Bertil Lindahl; Mai-Lis Hellenius; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Coronary heart disease; Secondary prevention; Prevention; Periodontal Disease; Tooth loss; Risk prediction; Risk factors; Myocardial infarction; Kardiologi; Cardiology;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis was to assess the prevalence and management of established cardiovascular (CV) risk factors and the prevalence and influence of self-reported markers (number of teeth and frequency of gum bleeding) of periodontal disease (PD), a less explored CV risk factor, in patients with stable chronic coronary heart disease (CHD).We studied patients from the global STabilization of Atherosclerotic plaque By Initiation of darapLadIb TherapY (STABILITY) trial (n=15,828), in which patients with stable chronic CHD were randomized to either darapladib or placebo.
