16. Time-resolved CVD of Group 13-Nitrides
Sammanfattning : Group 13 nitrides (AlN, GaN and InN) and their alloys are semiconductor materials with a wide bandgap span covering from UV down to IR range. Their excellent electronic properties make them extremely attractive materials for light emitting diodes (LEDs) and different kind of transistor structures, especially high electron mobility transistors (HEMTs). 17. Cytokines, alcohol metabolizing enzymes and stress-inducible ER proteins in alcoholic liver disease
Sammanfattning : The release of inflammatory cytokines by Kupffer cells is believed to be a key step in the pathogenesis of alcoholic liver disease (ALD). Kupffer cells are activated not only by endotoxins [lipopolysaccharides (LPS)] but also by the lipid peroxidation products generated mainly via ethanol-inducible cytochrome P450 2E1 (CYP2E1) redox cycling. 18. Synchrotron X-ray based characterization of technologically relevant III-V surfaces and nanostructures
Sammanfattning : Innovative design and materials are needed to satisfy the demand for efficient and scalable devices for electronic and opto-electronic applications, such as transistors, LEDs, and solar cells. Nanostructured III-V semiconductors are an appealing solution, combining the excellent functional properties of III-V materials with the flexibility typical of nanostructures, such as the nanowires (NWs) studied here. 19. Semiconductor Nanowires: Characterization and surface modification
Sammanfattning : The topic of III-V nanowires is still, after more than two decades, a growing and lively research area. The areas of application are wide and contain such important topics as energy harvesting, cheap and efficient lighting, high efficiency detectors and new types of electronics. III-V materials offer properties superior to the widely used Si. LÄS MER
20. Synthesis and Characterisation of Ultra Thin Film Oxides for Energy Applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes studies of materials which can be exploited for hydrogen production from water and sunlight. The materials investigated are maghemite (γ-Fe2O3), magnetite (Fe3O4) and especially hematite (α-Fe2O3), which is an iron oxide with most promising properties in this field. LÄS MER
