  1. 1. Predicting Prognosis and Tamoxifen Response in Breast Cancer. With a special focus on contralateral breast cancer

    Författare :Sara Alkner; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Breast cancer; prognosis; treatment prediction; endocrine treatment; tamoxifen; coactivator; AIB1; PAX2; SRC; contralateral breast cancer; premenopausal; randomized trial; mode of detection; mammography.;

    Sammanfattning : One of the great challenges in breast cancer treatment today is to customize adjuvant treatment to each patient’s individual needs. To do this it is necessary to learn more about the prognostic and treatment predictive factors that determine the risk of relapse and response to a certain mode of treatment. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Body Protein and its Change in Patients During Anti-Tumor Treatment

    Författare :Lianna Kadar; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cytology; Gastrointestinal tumors; Breast cancer; Lung cancer; Prognosis; Body protein; oncology; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this study was to investigate how total body protein and its fraction of body weight (body protein fraction) change in cancer patients during different anti-tumor treatments, and to see if these changes have any clinical significance in the form of prognostic value or correlation with disease course and tumor response. In 84 patients, 28 with lung cancer, 24 with gastrointestinal tumors, 30 with breast cancer, 1 with non-Hodgkin lymphoma and 1 with kidney cancer, the total amount of body nitrogen was measured using an in vivo prompt gamma neutron activation technique. 3. 3. Long-term side effects of radiotherapy in breast cancer : studies in ischemic heart disease and lung cancer

    Författare :Anna-Karin Wennstig; Malin Sund; Carl Blomqvist; Greger Nilsson; Per Karlsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :breast cancer; radiotherapy; long-term side effects; ischemic heart disease; lung cancer; survivorship; Oncology; onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Breast cancer (BC) is the most common cancer in women worldwide. Due to early detection and advances in adjuvant therapies, most women diagnosed with early BC will be cured of their disease, and issues of survivorship are of great importance. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Interval cancers, positive predictive value for malignance and other early quality indicators in mammographic screening for breast cancer

    Författare :Bedrich Vitak; Ingvar Andersson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Mammography; Breast neoplasm; Breast cancer screening; Interval breast cancer; Metastasis; Mortality; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : The study was designed to evaluate early quality indicators in screening for breast cancer. lt comprised, (i) investigations of compliance, recall, referral, cancer detection, and interval cancer rates in the Östergötland screening programme of women aged 40-74 years; (ii) evaluation of the three-stage diagnostic procedure for pre-operative assessment of women with suspicious mammographic findings; (iii) comprehensive analysis of all invasive interval cancers detected; and (iv) investigation into how to reduce the number of interval cancers without a concomitant increase in false positives. 5. 5. Body constitution, statin use, and tumor characteristics. Implications for prognosis

    Författare :Helga Tryggvadottir; Epidemiologi och farmakogenetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; breast cancer; prognosis; tumor-specific markers; HMG-CoA reductase; aryl hydrocarbon receptor; aromatase; statins; anthropometric factors;

    Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is an important cause of disease-burden and death in women. To prevent over- and undertreatment of breast cancer patients, new prognostic and predictive factors are needed. LÄS MER
