  1. 1. Self aggregation of fluorocarbon surfactants and fluorocarbon- hydrocarbon surfactant mixtures

    Författare :Ke Wang; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik; Physics; Fysik; Physical Chemistry; fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The aggregation and phase behavior of fluorocarbon surfactants in micellar, and liquid crystalline phases, and micellization in nonideal mixed fluorocarbon-hydrocarbon surfactant system have been investigated by means of a variety of techniques.The demixing in mixed surfactant systems was studied in the dilute solution region by using time-resolved fluorescence quenching measurements. 2. 2. Bilayers with Surfactant-induced Pores and Demixing in Micelles : Studies of Segregation in Amphiphile Systems

    Författare :Mari Kadi; Mats Almgren; Per Hansson; Ulf Olsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; fluorocarbon surfactants; amphiphile mixtures; perforated bilayers; segregation; NMR; surfactant selective electrode; cryo-TEM; SANS; AFM; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The focus of this thesis has been on the effects of segregation in mixtures of amphiphilic molecules. Two different systems were investigated: fluorocarbon-hydrocarbon surfactant mixtures and lipid-surfactant mixtures. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Vibrational Sum Frequency Spectroscopy Studies at the Air-Liquid Interface

    Författare :Eric Tyrode; Mark Rutland; Paul Davies; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sum Frequency Generation; SFG; VSFS; surfactant; adsorption; water; surface structure; hydration; surface tension; fluorosurfactants; liquid-air interface; poly ethylene oxide surfactants; surface molecular orientation; acetic acid.; Surface and colloid chemistry; Yt- och kolloidkemi;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis the structure and hydration of small organic and amphipilic compounds adsorbed at the air-liquid interface, have been studied using the nonlinear optical technique Vibrational Sum Frequency Spectroscopy (VSFS). The second order nature of the sum frequency process makes this technique particularly surface sensitive and very suitable for interfacial studies, as molecules at the surface can be distinguished even in the presence of a vast excess of the same molecules in the bulk.
