  1. 6. Cellular effects of ionizing radiation : Relevant for understanding cancer risk after medical and environmental radiation exposures

    Författare :Pamela Chiaka Akuwudike; Andrzej Wojcik; Lovisa Lundholm; Kerstin Borgmann; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiation; DNA damage; radiation-induced carcinogenesis; second primary cancer; cisplatin chemoradiotherapy; dose fractionation; low dose; low dose rate; dose and dose rate effectiveness factor DDREF ; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : Radiation-induced cancers are stochastic and delayed effects of exposure to ionizing radiation. The dose-response relationship for radiation-induced cancers at both low dose/low dose rates and high doses (doses encountered during radiotherapy) remains unclear. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Chlorine Induced Corrosion in Biomass and Waste Fired Boilers: Laboratory and Field Investigations

    Författare :Nicklas Folkeson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; austenitic; chloride; biomass; high temperature corrosion; ferritic; waste; steel;

    Sammanfattning : The fireside corrosion in biomass and waste fired boilers is widely believed to arise from the presence of chlorine-containing compounds in the fuels. Although many researchers have studied the influence of such compounds on the high temperature corrosion of various steels, the mechanisms underlying chlorine-induced corrosion are still poorly understood. 3. 8. Alkali Induced High Temperature Corrosion of Stainless Steel - Experiences from Laboratory and Field

    Författare :Jesper Pettersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; KCl; 304L; Biomass; Corrosion; Chlorine; Chromate; Waste; Deposit;

    Sammanfattning : The high temperature corrosion of steam superheaters is a major obstacle that has to be overcome in order to increase the electricity generating efficiency of power boilers burning biomass or waste. This thesis addresses this issue by a combination of well-controlled model experiments in the laboratory and short and long term field exposures using cooled probes in full-scale biomass and waste fired boilers. 4. 9. Corrosion-included metal runoff from external constructions and its environmental interaction : a combined field and laboratory investigation of Zn, Cu, Cr and Ni for risk assessment

    Författare :Sofia Bertling; Inger Odnevall Wallinder; Herbert E. Allen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Environmental technology; Atmospheric corrosion; metal runoff; metal dispersion; soil; limestone; retention; Miljöteknik; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The 1990s has seen an increased awareness of possible environmental effects of corrosion-induced metal release from outdoor constructions. Considerable efforts have been initiated to perform critical assessments of possible risks of selected metals. Gaps of knowledge have been identified and research investigations started. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Alkali Induced Corrosion of 304L, The Influence of Potassium Salts and Water Vapour

    Författare :Jesper Pettersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; 304L; Alkali; Breakaway Corrosion; KCl; Oxidation; Deposit;

    Sammanfattning : This work investigates the influence of alkali salts on the oxidation of304-type (Fe18Cr10Ni) austenitic stainless steel in laboratory and fieldexposures. Stainless steel coupons were exposed isothermally inlaboratory furnaces at 400-600 °C in 5% O2 and 5% O2 + 40% H2O.Thermobalance exposures were also performed. LÄS MER
