  1. 1. Essays on Field Experiments and Impact Evaluation

    Detta är en avhandling från Göteborg : University of Gothenburg

    Författare :Remidius Denis Ruhinduka; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2015]
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; adaptation to climate change; ambiguity; artefactual field experiment; behavioraleconomics; charcoal; credit; deforestation; endogenous switching regression; field experiment; guilt; honesty; impact evaluation; kindness; liquidity constraint; LPG stoves; rice marketing; risk preferences; system of rice intensification; Tanzania; time preferences;

    Sammanfattning : Paper 1: Improving Welfare Through Climate-Friendly Agriculture: The Case of the System of Rice Intensification We use rich survey data to investigate the economic impact of a climate-friendly rice farming method known as the system of rice intensification (SRI) on the welfare of rain-dependent small-holder farmers in Tanzania. SRI reduces water consumption by half, which makes it a promising farming system in the adaptation to climate change in moisture constrained areas, and it does not require flooding of rice fields, resulting in reduced methane emissions. 2. 2. The measurement of chemical persistence in the field by benchmarking Theory and Experiment

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Department of Environmental Science and Analytical Chemistry, Stockholm University

    Författare :Hongyan Zou; Stockholms universitet.; [2015]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; chemical benchmarking; persistence; half-lives; modeling; threshold benchmarking; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Persistence is one of the core criteria in chemical exposure and hazard assessment. It is often defined as the half-life for the removal of a chemical from a specified environment by transformation. Chemicals with long transformation half-lives may pose high risks for wildlife or humans and be subject to long-range transport to remote areas. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Prosocial Behavior, Social Interaction and Development: Experimental Evidence from Vietnam

    Detta är en avhandling från Göteborg : University of Gothenburg

    Författare :Nam Pham Khanh; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2011]
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Voluntary contribution; local public goods; social influence; default contribution; conditional cooperation; disclosure; social preferences; preferences for relative position; preference stability; moral licensing; moral cleansing; adaptation to climate change; social capital; field experiment; natural experiment; lab experiment; Vietnam.;

    Sammanfattning : Paper 1. Funding a New Bridge in Rural Vietnam: A Field Experiment on Conditional Cooperation and Default Contributions The ability to provide public goods is essential for economic and social development, yet there is very limited empirical evidence regarding contributions to a real local public good in developing countries. 4. 4. Essays on Development and Experimental Economics: Migration, Discrimination and Positional Concerns

    Detta är en avhandling från Göteborg : University of Gothenburg

    Författare :Lisa Andersson; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2013]
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; class; discrimination; Ethiopia; ethnicity; experiment; fixed effects; field experiment; housing market; gender; income comparison; migration; panel data; private inter-household transfers; propensity score matching; reference groups; remittances; subjective well-being;

    Sammanfattning : Paper 1: A Field Experiment of Discrimination in the Norwegian Housing Market: Gender, Class, and Ethnicity We test for gender, class, and ethnic discrimination in the Norwegian rental housing market using fake application letters. Females, individuals with high job status, and ethnic Norwegians are more likely to receive positive responses. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Essays on behavioral economics: Nudges, food consumption and procedural fairness

    Detta är en avhandling från Göteborg : Göteborgs universitet. Handelshögskolan Institution, Department of Economics

    Författare :Verena Kurz; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2017]
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Nudging; Field experiment; Meat consumption; Climate change mitigation; Decision heuristics; Food choice; Procedural fairness; Experiment; Coordination; Correlated equilibrium; Recommendations; Volunteer s dilemma;

    Sammanfattning : Decreasing meat consumption holds significant potential for the reduction of human-induced greenhouse gas emissions and the mitigation of climate change. Fostering behavioral change to reduce climate emissions related to food consumption is challenging and requires new strategies based on an understanding of human decision-making. LÄS MER
