6. Protein Nanomaterials: : Functionalization, Self-assembly, and Applications
Sammanfattning : As one of the major classes of materials that is relevant to biological function of our daily life, proteins are highly interesting in both biological and material science. Self-assembled protein amyloid nanostructures have been considered not only as aggregates in pathological tissue, but also as a kind of advanced one dimension materials in material science perspective due to their favorable characteristics including high aspect ratio, abundant surface charge groups, high stability, and tunable surface properties. 7. Multiphase continuum modeling of wood : A hybrid mixture theory approach
Sammanfattning : Wood has been used as a construction material for a very long time. The development of efficient industrial production processes of wood has expanded the use of the material with the introduction of new products, such as engineered wood products. LÄS MER
8. Experimental Study on Steam Explosions in Chemical Solutions and Seawater
Sammanfattning : Steam explosions may be encountered in severe accidents of light water reactors (LWRs), which are thermal detonations caused by rapid and intense vaporization of the coolant upon its direct contact with the core melt (corium). Motivated by the interest in understanding and mitigation of severe accident progression, many studies have been conducted to investigate the steam explosion phenomena during severe accidents. 9. Minimal conization with carbon dioxide laser for treatment of cervical intra-epithelial neoplasia
Sammanfattning : 3,100 non-pregnant women and 85 pregnants were miniconized during the 15-year period ending 1994 . The outpatient procedure of minimal conization using a freehand-guided, high power 60W carbon dioxide laser focused to 0.1 mm in spot-size, giving high power density 165,000 W/cm2, produces single-piece tissue specimens for histological examination.
