  1. 21. Model for End of Life Treatment of Polymer Composite Materials

    Författare :Anna Hedlund-Åström; Jan-Gunnar Persson; Conrad Luttropp; Sigbritt Karlsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; polymer composites; material recycling; energy recovery; environmental effects; recommendations; waste treatment model; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Because of increasing environmental demands, especially on dealing with products end of life phase, product manufacturers and designers must consider the future disposal of their products. For conventional materials like steel and aluminium well-functioning recycling methods exists. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Concentrate or dilute contaminants? : Strategies for Swedish wood waste

    Författare :Joakim Krook; Anders Mårtensson; Stefan Anderberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Management strategies; environmental aspects; heavy metals; separation; regulation; market interactions; actors; avfall; miljö; sortering; föroreningar; tungmetaller; impregnerat trä; styrmedel; kundkrav; lagstiftning; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis aims to assess the environmental consequences of management strategies for wood waste in Sweden. There is a special focus on separation strategies and in what way such measures influence environmental aspects such as the presence of heavy metals in the waste. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Engineering Designers' Requirements on Design for Environment Methods and Tools

    Författare :Mattias Lindahl; Margareta Norell Bergendahl; Tim McAlonone; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Environmental technology; Design for Environment; Methods and Tools; Requirements; Miljöteknik; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Given a special focus on Design for Environment (DfE) methods and tools, the objectives of this thesis are to, “Identify basic design-related requirements that a method or tool should fulfill in order to become actively used by engineering designers”, and to “Investigate how those basic requirements could be used to make DfE methods and tools more actively used in industry among engineering designers”. The research has shown that designers in general have three main purposes for utilizing methods and tools, of which the last two could be seen as subsets of the first one. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Human Behaviour in Social-Ecological Systems : Insights from economic experiments and agent-based modelling

    Författare :Caroline Schill; Therese Lindahl; Anne-Sophie Crépin; Johan Colding; Carl Folke; Juan Camilo Cárdenas; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Human behaviour; Common-pool resources; Ecological complexity; Collective action; Sustainable resource use; Regime shifts; Thresholds; Uncertainty; Communication; Knowledge-sharing; Economic experiments; Laboratory and field experiments; Agent-based modelling; Complex adaptive systems; Social-ecological systems; Sustainability Science; vetenskap om hållbar utveckling;

    Sammanfattning : Progress towards sustainability requires changes in our individual and collective behaviour. Yet, our fundamental understanding of behaviour in relation to environmental change remains severely limited. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Analysing the carbon footprint of food : insights for consumer communication

    Författare :Elin Röös; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : In Europe, food consumption is responsible for approximately 30% of total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. There has been huge interest in estimating the carbon footprint (CF) of food products, i.e. the total amount of GHG emitted during the life cycle of the product, and communicating these to consumers to enable them to make informed choices.
