  1. 6. Sustainable Packaging of Organic Food: Myth or Reality?

    Författare :Helena Lindh; Förpackningslogistik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Packaging; Features; Functions; Food; Organic; Life cycle; Eco; Sustainable Packaging; Development; Design;

    Sammanfattning : Previous research has argued that packaging has a great potential to contribute to sustainable development, but how to put this potential into practice is not yet fully explored. The theoretical foundation of the research presented is at the intersection of packaging logistics and sustainable development. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Structural changes in marine ecosystems – the application of novel network approaches to understand marine regime shift

    Författare :Johanna Yletyinen; Thorsten Blenckner; Örjan Bodin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Anthropogenic drivers, such as climate change and fishing, have severe, often unexpected impacts on marine ecosystems. Species responses to drivers may have cascading effects through ecological communities, potentially changing the structure and functioning of the food web. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation researches how perspectives in western industrial societies communicate about and give meaning to environmental degradation through case studies on the causes and effects of cultural eutrophication—namely nutrient pollution, algal blooms, and dead zones—in the Baltic Sea. Utilizing this approach, this dissertation addresses the ecological problems of cultural eutrophication in marine ecosystems by exposing normative claims humans make about the Baltic Sea and its contents as well as detailing how seas that exceed human expectations may offer insights into negotiating differing perspectives, discrepancies in power, and ways of being among humans and non-humans in marine environments. 4. 9. Norms and legal rules : An investigation of the tunnel construction through the Hallandsås ridge

    Författare :Matthias Baier; Rättssociologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Sociology; Hallandsås; action-oriented system; normativity; tunnel construction; Sociologi;

    Sammanfattning : In 1992 Swedens biggest tunnelproject begun. Two 8.5 km tunnels should cross a big ridge in southern Sweden which was seen as an obstacle to a fast and efficient railway line connecting Oslo and Gothenburg with Malmö and Copenhagen. However, the project had to stop in 1997 due to environmental damages. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Beyond Waste Management : Challenges to Sustainable Global Physical Resource Management

    Författare :Jagdeep Singh; Björn Frostell; Olga Kordas; Anju Singh; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sustainable global physical resource management; global waste management; systems thinking; life cycle thinking; planning framework; global environmental justice; circular economy; Industrial Ecology; Industriell ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Current physical resource management (PRM) was investigated in a global perspective in this thesis, to gain a deeper understanding of its implications in a sustainability perspective. In particular, the main challenges to the current PRM system and the kinds of systemic changes needed for sustainable PRM were examined. LÄS MER
