1. Modulation of Neuronal Functions : the Role of SLC10A4
Sammanfattning : Mental health of a person depends on the correct functioning of the brain. The brain and the spinal cord contain many types of cells, of which one important type are called the neurons. Neurons are special in the way they connect to each other to form large networks. LÄS MER
2. Non-selfadjoint operator functions
Sammanfattning : Spectral properties of linear operators and operator functions can be used to analyze models in nature. When dispersion and damping are taken into account, the dependence of the spectral parameter is in general non-linear and the operators are not selfadjoint. LÄS MER
3. Bounds on Hilbert Functions
Sammanfattning : This thesis is constituted of two articles, both related to Hilbert functions and h-vectors. In the first paper, we deal with h-vectorsof reduced zero-dimensional schemes in the projective plane, and, in particular, with the problem of finding the possible h-vectors for the union of two sets of points of given h-vectors. 4. Early Discourses on Colour and Cinema : Origins, Functions, Meanings
Sammanfattning : This dissertation is a historical and theoretical study of a number of discourses examining colour and cinema during the period 1909 to 1935 (trade press, film reviews, publications on film technology, manuals, catalogues and theoretical texts from the era). In this study, colour in cinema is considered as producing a number of aesthetic and representational questions which are contextualised historically; problems and qualities specifically associated with colour film are examined in terms of an interrelationship between historical, technical, industrial, and stylistic factors, as well as specific contemporary conceptions of cinema. 5. Learning flow functions : architectures, universal approximation and applications to spiking systems
Sammanfattning : Learning flow functions of continuous-time control systems is considered in this thesis. The flow function is the operator mapping initial states and control inputs to the state trajectories, and the problem is to find a suitable neural network architecture to learn this infinite-dimensional operator from measurements of state trajectories.
