21. Ghana in search of development : The challenge of governance, economic management and institution building
Sammanfattning : Why did Ghana, a country that was favourably endowed in its economic and social life, and judged to have considerable head start over other countries in Sub-Saharan Africa in the 1950s, and for which all predictions pointed to a bright future, come to experience a classic socioeconomic decline and is now struggling to survive?This study endeavours to explain how and why this happened. Combining sociological, economic and political, as well as institutional perspectives at the methodological level, the study focuses on the interplay between state politics and socioeconomic development. This is done in order to provide insights on how companies of a highly internationalised and vulnerable line of insurance were affected by and responded to new risks during a period of far-reaching international financial and economic crises. 24. Trafikpolitik och regional omvandling : Beslutsprocesserna om isbrytningen längs Norrlandskusten 1940-1975
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to understand the decision-making processes concerning ice-breaking along the coast of Norrland, with the specific aim to analyse the activities of regional interest groups in the Norrland region and government agents at different administrative levels at the key stages of the decision-making processes: initiation, drafting and decision-making.
