1. On Degree Variance in Random Graphs
Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with degree moments and degree variance in random graphs. The degree of vertex i in a graph is the number of edges incident to vertex i.In the first paper, degree moments and functions of degree moments are investigated for three random graph models. 2. Degrees in Random Graphs and Tournament Limits
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of an introduction and six papers on the topics of degree distributions in random graphs and tournaments and their limits. The first two papers deal with a dynamic random graph, evolving in time through duplication and deletion of vertices and edges. In Paper I we study the degree densities of this model. LÄS MER
3. New Tools for Analysis of Wood and Pulp Components - Application of MALDI-TOF Mass Spectroscopy and Capillary Zone Electrophoresis
Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE),matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight massspectroscopy (MALDI-MS) and size-exclusion chromatography incombination with off-line MALDI-MS (SEC/MALDI-MS) have beenapplied successfully to the analysis of wood and pulpcomponents. The carbohydrate compositions of pulp and holocellulosesamples, as well as of isolated hemicellulose preparations, were determined employing enzymatic hydrolysis and subsequentanalysis of the saccharides released by CZE. 4. Distributions Of Fiber Characteristics As A Tool To Evaluate Mechanical Pulps
Sammanfattning : Mechanical pulps are used in paper products such as magazine or news grade printing papers or paperboard. Mechanical pulping gives a high yield; nearly everything in the tree except the bark is used in the paper. This means that mechanical pulping consumes much less wood than chemical pulping, especially to produce a unit area of printing surface. LÄS MER
5. Chloride Induced Corrosion of Reinforcement Steel in Concrete - Threshold Values and Ion Distributions at the Concrete-Steel Interface
Sammanfattning : The chloride threshold value (Cth), or critical chloride content, is defined as the chloride concentration at the depth of the reinforcement, which initiates the depassivation of steel in concrete. However, very limited information is available regarding the chloride distributions at the interface with the steel. LÄS MER
