  1. 1. T-cell Differentiation and Immunological Homeostasis in Lymphopenic and Kappa Light Chain Deficient Mice

    Författare :Frida Ekholm Pettersson; Fredrik Ivars; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; T cells; differentiation; homeostasis; cytokines; mice; SCID; κ-deficient; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : T lymphocytes are primarily involved in adaptive, cell-mediated, immune reactions. In this thesis T cells were studied regarding central and peripheral differentiation and homeostatic mechanisms for maintanance of the immune repertoire.The influence by mature T cells on thymic development was studied in C. 2. 2. Movement pattern analysis of hypoglutamatergic mice. A model for cognitive deficits of schizophrenia and autism?

    Författare :Marie Nilsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; schizophrenia; autism; cognition; movement pattern; video tracking; MK-801; mice;

    Sammanfattning : Schizophrenia and autism are two severe neuropsychiatric disorders that are associated withprofound cognitive disturbances which considerably contribute to the long-term morbidity andthe decreased ability to function in the society. Currently used therapies do not reach the corecognitive disturbances to a satisfactory extent. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Autoimmune Regulator Deficient Mice, an Animal Model of Autoimmune Polyendocrine Syndrome Type I

    Författare :Signe Hässler; Ola Winqvist; Olle Kämpe; Bertrand Huard; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Molecular medicine; autoimmune regulator; autoimmune polyendocrine syndrome type I; peripheral tolerance; antigen presenting cells; autoimmunity; danger signal; knockout mice; Molekylärmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Autoimmune diseases develop when the immune system fails to distinguish self from non-self or when the immune system is hypersensitive to endogenous or exogenous danger signals, or when a tissue erroneously sends a danger signal to the immune system. The education of the immune system to distinguish self from non-self is mainly carried out in the thymus and gives rise to central tolerance, whereas the ability to sense a danger or a healthy tissue constitutes peripheral tolerance. 4. 4. Studies on peripheral tolerance in Aire-deficient mice

    Författare :Evelina Lindmark; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Autoimmune diseases such as diabetes mellitus and multiple sclerosis are increasing today, but the mechanism behind these diseases remains largely unknown. Autoimmunity arise when the immune system of an individual start to attack its own organs and tissues. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Immunological aspects of maternal-foetal interactions in mice

    Författare :Marie Arvola; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Developmental biology; Neonatal mice; milk; placenta; fetal rejection; IgG; Utvecklingsbiologi; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi; Developmental Biology; miljömedicinsk utvecklingsbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Mammalian pregnancy is an immunological paradox. The foetus, which expresses both paternal and maternal cell-surface molecules, has to be protected from rejection by the maternal immune system. At the same time, the mother has to have an efficient immune defence and must provide her offspring with antibodies. LÄS MER
