  1. 1. Factors Contributing to Detrusor Overactivity - Obstruction, Hypertrophy and Afferent Nerve Stimulation

    Författare :Annette Schröder; Avdelningen för klinisk kemi och farmakologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacological sciences; pharmacy; toxicology; Farmakologi; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi; knockout; mice; estrogen receptor; EP1 receptor; prostaglandin; rat; endothelin; detrusor overactivity; rabbit; smooth muscle; bladder outlet obstruction; hypertrophy; pharmacognosy;

    Sammanfattning : The consequences of bladder outlet obstruction (BOO) with respect to detrusor hypertrophy, structural and functional changes, and obstruction-induced detrusor overactivity were investigated in vivo and in vitro utilizing various animal models. Possible pathophysiological pathways and therapeutic approaches were tested by drug treatment and the use of knockout models. LÄS MER

  2. 2. New Roles of Filamins in Cell Signaling, Transcription and Organ Development

    Författare :Xianghua Zhou; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :filamins; cell movement; hypoxia-inducible factor 1; proto-oncogene proteins c-met; mice; knockout; F-actin-binding proteins; integrins; GTB phosphohydrolases; genetic diseases; inborn; vascular endothelial cell growth factor A; Smad2 protein; hepatocyte growth factor; cartilage; osteogenesis; neovascularization; neoplasm metastasis;

    Sammanfattning : Filamins are large actin-binding proteins that stabilize delicate three-dimensional actin networks and link them to cellular membranes. They integrate cell architectural and signaling functions and are essential for cell locomotion and development. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Heparan Sulfate Biosynthesis – Clues from Knockout Mice

    Författare :Johan Ledin; Lena Kjellén; John Gallagher; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; heparan sulfate; biosynthesis; gene targeting; embryonic development; proteoglycans; NDST; N-deacetylase N-sulfotransferase; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : In the extracellular space, many specialized proteins are located to support cells and to mediate cell-cell signalling. One class of such molecules is heparan sulfate (HS) proteoglycans, which are proteins with different properties and locations but all of them decorated with long unbranched HS polysaccharide chains. 4. 4. Autoimmune Regulator Deficient Mice, an Animal Model of Autoimmune Polyendocrine Syndrome Type I

    Författare :Signe Hässler; Ola Winqvist; Olle Kämpe; Bertrand Huard; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Molecular medicine; autoimmune regulator; autoimmune polyendocrine syndrome type I; peripheral tolerance; antigen presenting cells; autoimmunity; danger signal; knockout mice; Molekylärmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Autoimmune diseases develop when the immune system fails to distinguish self from non-self or when the immune system is hypersensitive to endogenous or exogenous danger signals, or when a tissue erroneously sends a danger signal to the immune system. The education of the immune system to distinguish self from non-self is mainly carried out in the thymus and gives rise to central tolerance, whereas the ability to sense a danger or a healthy tissue constitutes peripheral tolerance. 5. 5. The role of TGF-§ in hematopoiesis

    Författare :Jonas Larsson; Avdelningen för molekylärmedicin och genterapi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Transforming growth factor-§; Cre loxP system; receptor; knockout; embryogenesis; angiogenesis; hematopoiesis; hematopoietic stem cell; inflammation; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Medicin människa och djur ;

    Sammanfattning : Transforming growth factor-§ (TGF-§) is a potent, multifunctional growth factor affecting virtually all cell types, regulating critical physiological processes like immune response, wound healing, angiogenesis, and tumor development. A large number of studies in vitro have also implicated a critical role of TGF-§ in regulating hematopoiesis by inhibiting proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). LÄS MER
