1. Secondary Emissions from Concrete Floors with Bonded Flooring Materials - Effects of Alkaline Hydrolysis and Stored Decomposition Products
Sammanfattning : It has been demonstrated before that the presence of VOC lowers the quality of indoor air. There are also several indications that certain organic compounds in indoor air (OCIA) can give rise to sick building syndrome (SBS). LÄS MER
2. Spectral Image Processing with Applications in Biotechnology and Pathology
Sammanfattning : Color theory was first formalized in the seventeenth century by Isaac Newton just a couple of decades after the first microscope was built. But it was not until the twentieth century that technological advances led to the integration of color theory, optical spectroscopy and light microscopy through spectral image processing. LÄS MER
3. Interactions between Bacteria and Fungi on Aquatic Detritus – Causes and Consequences
Sammanfattning : Bacteria and fungi dominate the decomposition of aquatic plants, a major process in the carbon and nutrient cycling in many aquatic systems. Although phylogenetically distant, bacteria and fungi often live in close proximity with each other. Since these microorganisms also have similar ecological functions, interactions have developed between them. LÄS MER
4. Computational Fluid Dynamics and Experimental Studies of the Urea-SCR System
Sammanfattning : Volatile emissions produced by the burning of fossil fuels may be converted on a catalyst to less harmful products. During lean combustion an excess of oxygen in the exhaust gases together with a catalyst effectively oxidizes carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons into carbon dioxide and water. LÄS MER
5. Environmentally Degradable Polyethylene : Effects of Additives and Environment on the Degradation and Degradation products
Sammanfattning : This thesis summarises and compares the influences ofdifferent additives (photosensitisers, pro-oxidants, abiodegradable filler) on blown low-density polyethylene (LDPE)films during photo- and thermal degradation with respect tochemical changes in the polymer matrices and identifieddegradation products. Additives studied were irondimethyldithiocarbamate (FeDMC), nickel dibutyldithocarbamate(NiDBC), carbon black, starch, a pro-oxidant that consisted ofmanganese stearate together with styrene butadiene rubber (SBR)or natural rubber (NR) and a master batch containing linearLDPE, starch and pro-oxidant.
