1. Nano-Engineered Contrast Agents : Toward Multimodal Imaging and Acoustophoresis
Sammanfattning : Diagnostic ultrasound (US) is safer, quicker and cheaper than other diagnostic imaging modalities. Over the past two decades, the applications of US imaging has been widened due to the development of injectable, compressible and encapsulated microbubbles (MBs) that provide an opportunity to improve conventional echocardiographic imaging, blood flow assessment and molecular imaging. 2. Single DNA Molecule Analysis – New Tools for Medical Diagnosis
Sammanfattning : The DNA molecule, the blueprint of life, contains an enormous amount of information. The information is coded by the combination of four bases; adenine, cytosine, guanine, and thymine, that, together with the sugar-phosphate backbones, make up the DNA double helix. LÄS MER
3. A User-Friendly Approach for Applying Multi-Agent Technology in Plug & Produce Systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents methods for simplifying the use of multi-agent systems in Plug & Produce. The demand for customized products and low volume production is constantly increasing. The industry has for many years used dedicated manufacturing systems where it is difficult and expensive to adapt to new product designs. LÄS MER
4. Depolymerization of Lignocellulose by Lytic Polysaccharide MonoOxygenases
Sammanfattning : Lignocellulose biomass is considered as one of the most potential and sustainable sources for the production of value-added chemicals and fuels while replacing the traditional petroleum resources. In a biorefinery, by employing biochemical conversion processes, cellulose present in the biomass is broken down into monomeric sugars which can belater converted into fuels or chemicals. LÄS MER
5. Production and quantification of eritadenine, a cholesterol reducing compound in shiitake (Lentinus edodes)
Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular diseases are among the main causes of death in our society and there is a strong correlation between enhanced blood cholesterol levels and the development of such diseases. The popular edible fungus, shiitake mushroom (Lentinus edodes), has been shown to produce a blood cholesterol lowering compound designated eritadenine, and the hypocholesterolemic action of this compound has been quite extensively examined in rats.
