  1. 21. Supporting human activity performance using argumentation-based technology

    Författare :Esteban Guerrero Rosero; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The aim for the research presented in this thesis is to develop theories, methods and technology which can detect, represent and evaluate purposeful human activity based on information, which is inconsistent, incomplete and which includes information about an individual's needs, goals and motives. The purpose is to provide instruments to the fields of assistive technology and ambient assisted living, which have the potentials to advance the treatment of semantic information for the purpose of making decisions and reasoning about complex human activity in daily life. 2. 22. Författaren : En studie i litteraturvetenskaplig argumentation med analyser av August Strindbergs I havsbandet som exempel

    Författare :Sigrid Ekblad; Torsten Pettersson; Göran Rossholm; Per Erik Ljung; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Literature; writer; metacriticism; history of criticism; Swedish literature; August Strindberg; analysis of arguments; literary theory and criticism; Litteraturvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Notions and functions of the author within the discipline of literary studies constitute the object of investigation in this thesis. In the first part, the history of literary research is investigated. What has been considered as suitable and reasonable notions and functions of the author in literary studies are described.     Nyckelord :Building materials; multi-objective optimisation; genetic algorithms; evolutionary architecture; material phase transitions; generative LCA; parametric epistemic things; presilience; postponism; anticipation; adaptation; simulation; Grasshopper; Byggnadsmaterial; flermålsop2mering; gene2ska algoritmer; evolu2onär arkitektur; materialbaserade fasövergångar; genera2v LCA; parametriska epistemiska 2ng; presiliens; postponism; antecipa2on; adap2on; simulering; Grasshopper; Building Materials; Byggnadsmaterial;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is an investigation into how meta-heuristic multi-objective optimisation processes (genetic algorithms driven by evolutionary solvers) can bring about materials-related advantages in architectural performance. It redefines the architect’s and engineer’s role from being designers of a singular space or structure to being designers of entire species of spaces, and discusses a particular method – anticipatory adaptive assemblages (AAA) – that allows such processes to produce many generations of design iterations that eventually yield individuals optimised for a set of predefined objectives. 4. 24. Evolving Urban Culture in Transforming Cities Architectural and Urban Design in a Fluid Context

    Författare :Mir Azimzadeh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; evolution; generative process; space; configuration; culture; society; urban design; architecture; urban spatial systems; metamorphosis; domestic space; public space; place; analytic theory; space syntax; cultural types; local structure; urban function; housing estate; city; spatial interface; street system;

    Sammanfattning : The practice of architectural and urban design being involved in forming the space in our cities and built environments has certain effects on the social life in society that in its turn conditions the performance of the practice. The continuous changes in cities and societies, however, are just partially caused by the practice of architectural and urban design. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Principle-based non-monotonic reasoning - from humans to machines

    Författare :Timotheus Kampik; Helena Lindgren; Juan Carlos Nieves; Anthony Hunter; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Non-monotonic reasoning; formal argumentation; Computer Science; datalogi;

    Sammanfattning : A key challenge when developing intelligent agents is to instill behavior into computing systems that can be considered as intelligent from a common-sense perspective. Such behavior requires agents to diverge from typical decision-making algorithms that strive to maximize simple and often one-dimensional metrics. LÄS MER
