  1. 1. Wear and Fixation of the acetabular component : in vivo evaluation of different polyethylenes and modes of fixation in total hip arthroplasty

    Författare :Stephan Maximilian Röhrl; Kjell Gunnar Nilsson; Bo Nivbrant; Lars Nordsletten; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; total hip arthroplasty; acetabular component; wear; fixation; osteolysis; Radiostereometry; RSA; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; ortopedi; Orthopaedics;

    Sammanfattning : Polyethylene wear and micromotion of the implant play an important role in multifactorial etiology of osteolysis leading to aseptic loosening of the acetabular components. Despite excellent results in primary total hip arthoplasty in a 10-15 year perspective there are still unsolved problems. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Clinical and experimental studies on wear and osteolysis in total joint replacement

    Författare :Thord von Schewelov; Ortopedi - klinisk och molekylär osteoporosforskning; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; reumatologi; muskelsystem; Skelett; rheumatology locomotion; muscle system; NTx; Skeleton; radiostereometry; osteolysis; wear; Hip; arthroplasty; metabolism; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Total hip arthroplasty is a very successful procedure. Despite this fact, however, a certain portion of patients has to be revised. One major reason for revision is the wear of the polyethylene leading to loosening and osteolysis. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Hip revisions with impacted morselized allograft bone and cement. Patient outcome, prosthetic fixation and risks

    Författare :Ewald Ornstein; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiostereometry; NHP; patient outcome; cement; allograft; morselized; impacted; bone transplantation; hip; Arthroplasty; revision; complications; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : 144 consecutive hip revisions performed with morselized allograft bone and cement were followed up to 5 years after surgery. In 49 hips patient outcome was evaluated with the Nottingham Health Profile (NHP) questionnaire and Charnley hip scores in 47 hips prosthetic fixation was evaluated with radiostereometry (RSA)and in all 144 hips risks and complications were recorded using a prspective protocol. 4. 4. Acetabular Revisions. Risk Factors and Prediction of Re-revision

    Författare :Maziar Mohaddes; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Osteoarthritis; Hip; Register studies; Radiostereometry; Acetabular revision; Trabecular metal;

    Sammanfattning : Hip replacement is a successful intervention when treating patients with hip osteoarthritis. Approximately 10% of all patients undergoing primary hip replacement surgery require further surgical interventions (revisions) during their lifetime. Acetabular component (cup) failure is the most common reason for a revision. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Factors affecting cup wear and migration in total hip arthroplasty

    Författare :Halldor Bergvinsson; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; THA; THR; arthroplasty; osteoarthritis; Hip surgery; RSA; Radiostereometry; wear; cup wear; polyethylene; HXLPE; VEPE; cup migration; HOOS;

    Sammanfattning : Höftprotesoperationer har blivit en mycket vanlig operation med generellt goda resultat. Allt fler och allt yngre patienter opereras vilket ställer högre krav på att höftprotesen fungerar bättre och håller längre så att en omoperation kan undvikas. LÄS MER
