1. Hip revisions with impacted morselized allograft bone and cement. Patient outcome, prosthetic fixation and risks
Sammanfattning : 144 consecutive hip revisions performed with morselized allograft bone and cement were followed up to 5 years after surgery. In 49 hips patient outcome was evaluated with the Nottingham Health Profile (NHP) questionnaire and Charnley hip scores in 47 hips prosthetic fixation was evaluated with radiostereometry (RSA)and in all 144 hips risks and complications were recorded using a prspective protocol. 2. On the treatment of tibial fractures using the Ilizarov fixator
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to analyse the results of the Ilizarov method in patients with different types of tibial fracture and compare them with conventional methods, in terms of primary union, complication rates, post-operative function, quality of life, and how the patients´ gait was affected during rehabilitation. Fifty-eight patients with isolated diaphyseal fractures (Study I) were randomised to treatment with either the Ilizarov method (IL) or locked intramedullary nailing (IM). LÄS MER
3. Hip disability : patient education, classification and assessment

Hip osteoarthritis (OA), the major diagnosis, is difficult to define, especially when no joint space narrowing is seen in radiography. LÄS MER
4. Quality of life in patients with cronical lower limb ischaemia: Before and after revascularisation
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to assess quality of life in patients with varying degrees of lower limb ischaemia before and after revascularisation, to assess quality of life in relation to the degree of ischaemia and the respondents’ sense of coherence (SOC) and in comparison with a healthy control group, and to compare two different quality of life instruments regarding their usefulness as outcome measures. Patients were assessed using the Nottingham Health Profile (NHP) and the SOC scale before and six months after successful revascularisation and compared with 102 healthy controls. LÄS MER
5. LIVING WITH PERIPHERAL ARTERIAL DISEASE Quality of life and the patients' view of meaning
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate quality of life and the meaning of living with peripheral arterial disease (PAD) before and after revascularization in a long-term and methodological perspective. The sample in the first study consisted of 142 patients with PAD who were planned for a revascularization. LÄS MER
