  1. 11. Inhibited electrical discharges in air

    Författare :Anders Larsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik; Physics; Fysik; elektronik; Electronics;

    Sammanfattning : Modem society requires a stable electricity supply, the reliability of which is partlydetermined by the dielectric strength of the outdoor high-voltage insulation systems.This thesis concentrates upon one particular discharge phenomenon that occurs whensuch a system is subjected to rain, namely the inhibited discharge. 2. 12. Investigations of Flow Patterns in Ventilated Rooms Using Particle Image Velocimetry : Applications in a Scaled Room with Rapidly Varying Inflow and over a Wall-Mounted Radiator

    Författare :Amir Sattari; Ivo Martinac; Mats Sandberg; Dirk Müller; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Particle Image Velocimetry PIV ; experimental study; structured light 3D scanning system; ventilation; varying flow rate; room model; wall-mounted radiator; air; water; flow; Particle Image Velocimetry PIV ; experimentell studie; scanningsystem för strukturerat 3D-ljus; ventilation; varierande tilluftsflöde; rumsmodell; väggmonterad radiator; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik; Byggvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Energy Technology; Energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis introduces and describes a new experimental setup for examining the effects of pulsating inflow to a ventilated enclosure. The study aimed to test the hypothesis that a pulsating inflow has potential to improve ventilation quality by reducing the stagnation zones through enhanced mixing. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Distribution of Ventilation Air and Heat by Buoyancy Forces inside Buildings : An Experimental Study

    Författare :Claes Blomqvist; Mats Sandberg; Per Heiselberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; building ventilation; thermal forces; buoyancy; gravity currents; large openings; heating; air quality; forced convection; free convection; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The main task of the ventilation system in a building is to maintain the air quality and (together with the heating or cooling system) the thermal climate at an acceptable level within the building. This means that a sufficient amount of ventilation air at the appropriate temperature and quality must be supplied to satisfy thermal comfort and air quality demands and that this air is distributed to the parts of the building where people reside. 4. 14. Energy Consumption and Running Time for Trains : modelling of running resistance and driver behaviour based on full scale testing

    Författare :Piotr Lukaszewicz; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy consumption; Running time; running resistance; driver behaviour; freight; train; energy coasting method; aerodynamic drag; driver model; degree of coasting; slippage; wind; Energy saving; braking ratio; powering ratio; full scale testing; Vehicle engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The accuracy in determined energy consumption and runningtime of trains, by means of computer simulation, is dependent upon the various models used. This thesis aims at developing validated models of running resistance, train and of a generaldriver, all based on full scale testing. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Effects of biocides and metals on antibiotic resistance: a genomic and metagenomic perspective

    Författare :Chandan Pal; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Antibiotic resistance; biocide; metal; co-selection; metagenomics;

    Sammanfattning : Background and aim: There is a concern that biocides and metals can co-select for antibiotic resistance. The aim of this thesis is to enhance our understanding of the roles of antibacterial biocides (e.g. antiseptics, disinfectants) and metals (e. LÄS MER
